A customer open a return for a Velo-Bind hole punch machine, claim it was not as described because it wasnt a binding machine. I had it clearly stated as a hole punch. I messaged them to just return the item at there costs and ill refund less my rstocking fees. I sent 4 messages and they never responded once. I finally got ebay involved and lo and behold ebay sided with the buyer. Didnt give a reason why, but asked the buyer to return the item and told me I will pay return shipping and full refund upon delivery. Taught me a valueable lesson, clearly my fault for getting big brother involved. Never again LOL

You were supposed to officially accept the return, not send the buyer a message. Now you got an unresolved by seller strike for no reason.

I just had the same thing happen to me with a scamming, lying buyer and ebay sided with the degenerate and now I am swallowing a $120.00 loss on the shipping they charged me and will NOT give me the reversal of the final evaluation fees and paypal fees I had to pay for too! 16 years on ebay with 100% positive feedback and this has me so repulsed with these pigs in customer service that I am now going to spam the internet and message boards everywhere telling my story to other ebay sellers to beware Ebay promotes and facilitates scamming, fraudulent buyers and do NOT care about the sellers who MADE THEIR community in the first place. I am BEYOND **bleep** off! I cannot take this massive loss and I will make SURE ebay is held accountable for their **bleep** policy changes.

It is rare for a seller to escalate a claim and have it ruled in your favor unless you have discussed this already with a CSR BEFORE escalating the Request. Stay on the phone with the CSR and resolve the problem then.
However in what you have described, Ebay would have never backed you on having the buyer pay for return shipping or allow you to charge a restocking fee. They do not allow that on a SNAD Request. And the rules change again tomorrow where seller will not be able to charge a restocking fee at all even on BR requests.
I do understand what you were trying to do and I don't necessarily disagree with you. But it is Ebay's system and Ebay's rules whether we like them or not.

Check your dashboard because an unresolved by seller strike is coming your way.

That isn't what that means. If it simply said the Buyer Wins, then you will ge getting a strike on your account. Your dashboard is not in real time, so in the next few days, keep an eye on it. You will see the defect appear.
If they were not going to hold you at fault, it would have said buyer wins but seller was not at fault or something similar.
Sorry. But now you know what not to do in the future.

Not trying to be snarky, but ....ah.... you will care if your defect level hits the point where eBay deems you "below standard".
Your FVF's will increase.
If it happens, and your defect level does not improve you can be restricted/removed from selling on eBay.

No, I'm not wrong nor is Jen. When a Request for return gets escalated to Ebay for resolution and if that claim is ruled in the buyer's favor, Ebay DOES give the seller a defect. You will find it on your Dashboard under Cases closed without Seller Resolution. Which is what happened in this case by your own description in your opening post.

I stand correct. However what Jen and I stated is the rule on this subject. So either it was a different selling account, it wasn't escalated and closed in the buyer's favor, or it was a glitch. With that said, I'm glad it worked out for you. Hopefully next time you come up with an issue you might consider showing a little more respect for those that voluntarily come here to assist you.

Has the buyer returned the item yet? Because if the case isn't completely closed the defect probably won't show up until then (or even a bit after that).
I suppose anything is possible, however, my money is you will definitely get a 'case closed w/o seller resolution'.

Good call out and it certainly would explain why there isn't anything showing on the Dashboard yet.
