Customer opened INR but item is still in transit. "Arriving Late"

Item in USPS worker hands on May 13th with an estimated delivery date of Thursday May 16th.

It looks like it was misrouted. As of now I get a new tracking update repeating

Fri, May 24 12:00am
In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late

These are obviously automated as the time is always midnight.

I have until June 1st to resolve the issue with the customer. So basically either USPS delivers the package or I'm forced to refund?

Will eBay force a refund if there is updated tracking data as if the package is still in transit?

That suggestion no longer works. It says something like you can't change the tracking number or tracking was already provided.

You can't enter it, but you can submit it and it will update the INR history to reflect that tracking details has been updated which officially marks it as a response by you.

It's possible it has been delivered...

I have a few "in transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late" way back to March 2023....but have received positive feedbacks from the buyers.

Your package might not have got scanned "as delivered"...but got delivered to buyer already.

And buyer might be taking advantage of such.

Best to refund end of May...if it shows no movement in tracking other than in transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late.

It's an open eBay claim...and eBay will refund them and that could give you a "ding".

So you should do before eBay does.

Respond to the INR case and upload the tracking number in it.

If tracking shows recent movement, they should put the case on hold for a little bit to see if it gets delivered.

Have A Great Day.

If there is an actual tracking SCAN within the last week, no. The "In transit" status update is automatically generated and does not count as a scan.

R U sumitting the tracking number to the buyer opened INR case where EBay asks 4 it?  What U R saying sounds a bit strange (something must have recently changed)  If you dont' respond - ebay will issue a refund.  I Think........... (J.B.)

Why would you have to submit a tracking number when a tracking number is automatically generated and applied to the shipment when you use eBay to purchase a label?

In any case. You can't just submit the same number for tracking and call it a win in the "dispute" or "request for refund". It used to let you do that, but now if you try to update the tracking number on a dispute where tracking already exists. I always thought that advice was bogus anyway since there is an obvious tracking number for the original shipment.

You're not trying to update the tracking number, you're just providing the tracking number to Ebay when you upload it to the INR case.

I know it sounds crazy having to provide them a tracking number they already have, but apparently different departments don't play well together.

Have A Great Day.

The verbiage has changed. It says "Update the tracking number for buyer"

When you select it... you get a dialog that is already populated.

You can submit it as is and it says "Updated tracking". But in reality I've done nothing. The tracking number is the same number that was issued when I shipped the package.

I frankly think this is just forum lore and is completely unnecessary. Although it is always given emphasis here in the forums as some panacea for INR but package was shipped and tracked.
