Combined shipping postage cost now split by number of combinations

In the last few days I've noticed eBay changed how they report the shipping cost for combined shipping on the Order Detail page.  It used to be that the full postage cost was reported on each of the Order Details for the items that were combined.  Now, the total postage is divided by the number of separately purchased items.

So if I have two separately purchased items that have been combined and the full postage was $4, each Order Details page now shows a postage of $2.  Prior to two days ago, each Order Details page showed the full $4 shipping cost on each page.  So now I have to get a calculator to determine what the full shipping cost is which is a royal PITA.  Why would someone think this is an improvement?

It's showing you the per item cost (return value) where shipping is prorated.

On the order details page I see a total ship cost.

On the payment transaction details I see a per item ship cost.

Not sure which page you're looking at @barrys_chainsaw_shop?
