Combined shipping for 2 different accounts

First time poster here, hopefully I can get some clarification to my question....here’s the scenario. I’m browsing through the auctions and I’m looking at the pictures, I end up bidding and winning 2 separate auctions. Both auctions have visually similar pictures (same background, style, very similar pictures just of different perspective items) both auctions are based out of the same place (Berlin, Germany) I assume that they are coming from the same seller. Come to find out that I have won 2 auctions from 2 different selling accounts but its ONE person. Now time for my question....why can’t the one (1) person combine shipping for 2 separate accounts? Both items are being sent to the same place (my house) they are coming from the same location/1 person. It seems crazy that just because one person has multiple accounts that I should have to pay shipping and handling twice. So I ended up paying $24.00 for one person to send 2 separate packages when they could have easily combined to two orders and sent them together. The seller said that it’s not allowed to combine the shipping...for 2 accounts even if they are going to the same place, why is that? This seems like a flaw in the system if indeed it’s against the rules to send the items together. I don’t get why the shipping couldn’t be combined.

The seller is correct: It would not be possible for the seller to enter the same tracking number for transactions from two separate accounts. You knew when you purchased the items that they were coming from different IDs.

Re: Combined shipping for 2 different accounts

@cali_love209,

First off there is no ebay requirement that says a seller has to combine shipping, even if you buy two items from a single account.  It is also perfectly legal for a seller to have more than one account as well. I have two accounts, one for my collectible items, and another for selling off excess to needs household items.

Unfortunately, when purchases are made from two accounts owned by a single seller, a single tracking number cannot be used to track sales from the two different accounts. If they try to do that the number will be rejected, when the seller tries to add it to the second purchase, and without a tracking number a buyer could claim Item Not Received (INR) for the second purchase if the items were packed and shipped together.

Re: Combined shipping for 2 different accounts

That’s the thing, I didn’t know that they were coming from separate accounts. Just looking at the auctions I assumed they were from the same seller. My fault there, just seems that the seller could easily put them in the same box and knock down the shipping price. That’s what I would do if I were the seller.

I guess I’m just expecting people to do what I would do for someone. If I could save someone some extra money that’s what I would try and do

Re: Combined shipping for 2 different accounts

Even if it meant leaving yourself vulnerable to a fake "Item not received" claim while taking a hit on your "On time shipping" percentage?

Re: Combined shipping for 2 different accounts

The reality is that the seller may just as easily get scared, cancel both of your purchases and block your account.  That is how eBay conditions its sellers to act.

You’d deliberately damage your account standing? No, you wouldn’t.
