Can anyone decipher this return request?

A customer started a return request.

It's a cheap $5 ball point pen that looks like a bullet train with flashing led lights.

Reason:

Doesn't match description or photos

Comments:

This item says rainbow light and could be COUNTERFEIT. I want my money back.

Does anyone know what does that means? That makes no sense.

If i were to buy a widget and request a return for not as described and my reason was "ham and cheese omlette", would ebay accept the return?

I would normally refund the customer and tell them to keep the item, but something inside me this time told me to accept the return and have them send the item back.

There are some strange people out there...

I spoke to ebay CS. They are going to file a falsification case against the buyer.

Oh, please. "They are going to file a falsification case"? What does that even mean?  I hate to say this, but I get the impression that CS was floundering around to come up with something that would satisfy you or get you off the phone.

If tracking indicates that the item hasn't even arrived yet, then yes, the buyer is hoping to get an instant refund. I would just follow through on your normal process of accepting a return for refund, and leave the ball in his court. I don't think this issue is really worth all the keyboard time.

Re: Can anyone decipher this return request?

All i know is it's going to p*ss me off of i have to refund the purchase, refund the original shipping, and pay for the return shipping because this buyer flat out lied.  And accusing me of counterfeiting? Wouldn't it p*ss you off too?

And why does ebay let buyers file a NAD case before they even receive the item? And if you do, you should automatically lose that case.

When you try and file a INR case to early, you are reminded that you have to wait X number of days.

Re: Can anyone decipher this return request?

Mountain out of a molehill.  We all get occasional thieving buyers.  Make him send it back, pay the return shipping and give him a full refund when you get it.  It is part of selling here, the risk we all take.

It is a $5 item - why do you bother to even list such cheap stuff?  By the item you pay final value fees, payment processing fees, and the time it takes to make the listing, not counting listing fees if you have any, it is a total waste of time.

What do you say is the minimum dollar amount is to sell something so that i wont be wasting my time?

Oh no!  Don't tip them off like that!  You WANT them to file BEFORE it arrives so that you can PROVE that their "claim" is a false claim!

Hopefully there will be a record of this so that the next time they try filing a claim, they will be scrutinized a bit more...

Re: Can anyone decipher this return request?

It should be closed as soon as you gave customer service the tracking showing it hadn’t been delivered yet. I had a similar transaction. Customer said they received the wrong items.   I called cs and they looked at tracking.  I had emailed the customer asking if they could have me mixed with someone else...  they sent me a picture about two hours later, tracking showed it was then delivered, of the unopened package with my name as the return address.  Cs looked at picture of unopened package And closed the case, no refund.

Re: Can anyone decipher this return request?

If they can do that ... case closed, no refund.  That's what i want!

Why wouldn't they offer to do that in this case?

What was all that "falsification" mumbo jumbo they gave me?

Exactly what you said:  mumbo jumbo.  According to a board "blue" buyers are allowed to file snad before they get the item.  I don't think they made it an "industry standard" yet though.

Re: Can anyone decipher this return request?

Accept the return.  The buyer will then have 5 business days to get the package in the mail.  If there is no tracking on day 6, you can ask ebay to close the return.  No refund.

Exactly and since the filed and you accepted before they even got it it's eating into their five days to return.

Re: Can anyone decipher this return request?

Whatever it takes to get you a profit of at least $15 an hour (minimum wage in many places) after all your expenses are paid.

I'm not against you selling, just don't understand wasting your time for so little return.  Find some better products that sell for a higher price.  Make a profit!
