Can I refuse a package if the package arrived late and it’s the seller’s fault?

Hi.

I bought an item worth $300 which was scheduled to arrive on the 29th of June, however it was still not shipped by the 30th of June. I contacted the seller and they told me it will arrive in 14 days via ground shipping.

I decided to open an “item not recieved case” and ask for a refund. This is because I will be traveling out of the country on the 5th of July.

I waited over 24 hours but they didn’t respond. I then placed another order on Amazon and asked for one-day delivery.

Almost 36 hours later the Ebay seller sent me shipping details via USPS that they have shipped the parcel. The Ebay order takes 2-8 days to arrive and I won’t be in the country then.  I will not be back in the US until September so I cannot return it.

I can't cancel the Amazon order at this point as it has already shipped.

Can I ask my apartment office to refuse the package? I beleieve it is the fault of the seller because they didn’t respond to me on time and shipped the item despite me asking them for a refund.

Or what else I can do?

Someone should tell ebay because they keep giving my customers 7.

Now 8 because of the holiday.

That's more than 5.

That’s because holidays aren’t business days and don’t count. Neither do weekends 😉

Re: Can I refuse a package if the package arrived late and it’s the seller’s fault?

Thank you everyone who contributed. I did not have a friend that can help

me return it so i did not choose that option.

The package arrived after I left on the 6th of July and I have already asked for my packages to be placed on hold in the post office as I will not be back until September.

I asked Ebay to step in so that I can get my refund when the package is automatically returned to them in 30 days. I am happy to say Ebay asked them to refund me immediately.

If they had stuck to the ETA or at least marked the item as shipped when it actually shipped it would have been a better experience.

This is my first time shopping on Ebay.com and  I don’t think I will buy anything more than $10 again. The rules aren’t straightforward like Amazon, the sellers can be quite unserious and I was very distressed unnecessarily.

Thank you again.

____

you do realize that means you're going to get the item and September and the sellers out the money right?

yeah if you put the mail on hold the package wouldn't be sent back and would be waiting at the post office in september for you to pick up

ifyou can arrange for someone to receive the package and then you open a case of return, once approved, ask her to return it back to the seller with tracking.

once tracking shows delivered, you will get your money back.

Ebay gives you 30 days

30 days after delivery,  but only 7 days to ship it back once you start the return.

Nope. It’s 5 days to ship it back

Except when its not.

Re: Can I refuse a package if the package arrived late and it’s the seller’s fault?

If you've put a hold on your mail, why would the post office send back that one package before you return home?

That kind of sucks for the seller to be out the $ and yet unable to relist the merchandise because you're out of town for a month+
