As I offer "free shipping" I am trying to calculate the approximate expense of a first class package so I am properly calculating what to charge to achieve desired goals.
So a padded mailer weighing 2.5oz with item, packing slip, etc... Dimensions are 6.5 x 8.75 x .5.
Using the ebay calculator it tells me this would cost .71 for USPS First Class Package. Yes, I'm sure it said FCP and not media.
I realize we get discounted shipping with ebay so it won't be the 3.50 retail but even a few years back I was paying more for mailing the same package if I recall accurately (and I think I do).
So, probably not accurate at .71 but I've tried the calculator multiple times with the same results.
Is there a jewlery or other small, lightweight item seller that could provide me a closer estimate to a similar sized and weight package? Or guide me as to how to get a more accurate result.
I calculated from my location in the Midwest to Seattle, WA. Just picked a distant location.
I'm sorry to ask but did attempt the research myself several times over.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You probably have the package type set to letter/flat when it should be package and that’s why you are getting an incorrect amount.

Lol. Thanks. I thought I double checked that setting on the 2nd and 3rd attempts. However, on this 4th attempt after your message I am now getting accurate shipping expenses!
Thanks so much. Now to sit myself in the corner with my dunce cap on.
Have a great day!

"So a padded mailer weighing 2.5oz with item, packing slip, etc... Dimensions are 6.5 x 8.75 x .5."
I would suggest that you make it at least 3/4" thick.
"I calculated from my location in the Midwest to Seattle, WA. Just picked a distant location."
First Class isn't zoned, so the distance doesn't matter.
