Calculated flat rate for listings with multiple quantities

Maybe this is possible and I'm not seeing it...but I want to set up a listing using a padded flat rate mailer with calculated shipping. For listings with a single quantity, it's fine. But if the listing has multiple quantities, should the buyer puts 2 or more of that item in their cart. The shipping amount stays at whatever rate the shipping cost was.

Is there a way to make it so in cases like the above an item quantity of 2 will be $17.10 instead of $8.55? Or do I have to do the amount manually under "Flat: same cost to all buyers" for cost and each additional?

Instead of using the option of "Flat: same cost to all buyers" for cost and each additional,

you could set up a calculated shipping rule.

I tested the following & it worked for me ...

Set up your calculated shipping rule.

On this page you will be offered 3 different "discounts" that you can pick from.

Seelct the top one that says "no discount".

Set up the listing using Calculated Shipping.

Enter the service of USPS Priority Mail padded flat rate envelope

Check off the box to [   ] apply my calculated shipping rule.

If the PM padded flat rate env is the only shipping option offered by your listing,

the only reason I can think of for using calculated shipping would be -

- Shipping cost for the listing would be automatically updated by eBay whenever there is a USPS price increase.

May I ask ... is there another reason why you want to use calculated shipping?

As you said. So it's automatically updated for price increases. I combine/group shipping prices so will refund any overage. Basically trying something different and seeing how this works out. May decide to go back to flat pricing (or even "free shipping") later this year if it hurts sales too much.
