Calculated Shipping is wrong.

It started 04/27/22 eBay Calculated Shipping calculator is displaying low rates for the buyer and when the seller prints the shipping label the Rate is extremely higher.

- Considering that I provide package size and accurate weight I'm having to cover the additional shipping shortage.

Is anyone noticing this Shipping Rate inaccuracy?

@leoni-steel

I saw this on the technical board.....

Shipping calculator and label flow are not currently adding in Non-Standard Fees. The shipping team is aware and working on a fix (April 27, 2022)

Re: Calculated Shipping is wrong.

The shipping calculator has suddenly DROPPED the surcharges that USPS recently implemented, which is weird, since the new surcharges showed up right on schedule on April 3.

I strongly recommend that you temporarily end all affected listings, since the surcharge is $4 for packages over 22 inches and $15 for packages over 30 inches or 2 cu ft.  That could add up fast!  If you have the "Out of stock" option implemented in your site preferences, you can just change the quantity to zero for now, then back again when this glitch is fixed.

Re: Calculated Shipping is wrong.

Hey velvet@ebay, can you find out if eBay will be reimbursing sellers the postage differences after undercharging buyers regarding the USPS non-standard surcharges?

Good news @wastingtime101! The issue has now been resolved. The Shipping Calculator and label charges include the USPS non-standard fees where applicable and they said sellers will be reimbursed for any impacted transactions.

Re: Calculated Shipping is wrong.

Hi. I just had to cancel a paid auction because the "calculated" shipping charged to customer was $8, but EBay charged me $14. What is wrong now and how do I deal address this on my end without cancelling all auctions?

Re: Calculated Shipping is wrong.

To figure out what's wrong, we need to know the package weight and dimensions, both ZIP Codes, and both exact prices.

Your issue is different than the OP, but I'm sure we can help you figure it out @mccandlesslives.

The knife listing charged for a 5 lb Parcel Select package. In order to determine what happened we need to know:

- What was the exact price of the label you purchased?

- What were the package dimensions?

- Did you manually send the buyer an invoice?

Re: Calculated Shipping is wrong.

First thought, because this used to be an issue-check all the details including package size.

For a while eBay would default to large package which would cost more, never mind what you entered.

Re: Calculated Shipping is wrong.

I have two more auctions that did the same thing. All charged the buyer $7.55, but I got charge more.

Re: Calculated Shipping is wrong.

That listing offered free shipping. It didn't charge the buyer anything.

On listings that do use calculated shipping, the two most common sources of errors are (1) entering inaccurate weight and/or dimensions; and (2) listing offers Parcel Select Ground postage but seller purchases Priority Mail.

Just to be clear (and doublecheck my own understanding): eBay lets you offer Parcel Select Ground for your listing, but no way to actually print a label for that class of Shipping; you need to go to the Post Office for that. Is that right?

If so, the Post Office might assume that Priority is what's being requested at the counter, unless the seller speaks up and asks for Parcel Select postage instead. (I see clerks trying to upsell all the time, but not so often do they try to explain to a customer that he could use a cheaper method.)
