Buyer requesting to remove FedEx signature requirment after sending?

Need some advice here!

Sent buyer item just over $250 and required a signature on the package.

Buyer is now requesting to "remove signature restriction or have package held at Fedex".

My concern is that the name on the package, as entered by the buyer is ONLY their initials and of course, that this may resuly in me losing $250 and my item.

Any advice is appreciated!

eBay does not require sigs unless the item is over $750.  If you as a seller choose to add sig required that should be clearly noted in the listing and communicated to the buyer.   Requiring a signature on items below 750 doesn't make it ANY safer for you, and eBay will not consider the sig or lack thereof if the buyer claims INR.  eBay only cares if the delivery person correctly scanned the item as delivered.  If the buyer claims not to have it but the item was scanned as delivered and the zipcode matches it's VERY, VERY difficult for the buyer to get refunded.

If the buyer decides to file Not as Described, you're going to be paying to get the item back and refunding the buyer in full, sig or no sig.

I've got an item coming that I found out after the fact the seller added sig required and I'm ticked as it means I have to take time off work to sit and wait for the fedex driver.  We don't have a porch pirate problem in our area and the item isn't so greatly expensive that I was concerned about it.  But the seller chose, without notice to add sig required.  It WILL be reflected in their feedback.

Did the listing say they would have to sign for it?

Have a great day.

It sounds like the package is already sent.

My insurance requires a signature for anything $250 and over. eBay only requires signature for items $750 and over. I usually mention the signature requirement in the listing, because it can be a hassle for some people.

If you don't have insurance or other requirements needing a signature, I would lift the signature restriction. The signature protects the buyer more than the seller with eBay. As long as it is scanned as delivered in their zip code, eBay will consider it delivered.

I would just tell the buyer that you can't remove signature confirmation as the package has shipped.  If they want the package held they can go to Fedex online and request theirself.
