I am a long time seller, but this is the first time in all those years that I have a buyer who wants to return the item at my expense, claims the perfume is fake. I have told her that it can't be fake - it was purchased at TJMax - they don't sell fakes. I checked her feedback and she has purchased MANY perfumes. This purchase I believe was a "try out and see if I like it" at seller's risk. Ebay has informed me, that because of the reason for return, which she lists as "fake", I am obligated to accept the return, pay for the shipping, "or else!". What recourse do I have to this obviously false claim. My policy has been "does not accept returns" for various reasons, this being one of them. I have to say - I've been selling on Ebay for over 20 years - the system has degenerated.

Thanks for the commiseration. Yes, I blocked her. You're quite right about the buyers - on the other hand, if there are few sellers, then the buyers won't come either - goes both ways. Indeed, in the very beginning, when I actually started buying at Ebay - at the very inception - there were all sorts of scammers, primarily sellers, at that time. Still - the company grew by leaps and bounds, and I attribute that, at least today, solely to the price of items, the uniqueness having been originally the draw -- because today price is what buyers look for, primarily (of course there are other motivations by different buyers.) This is the capitalist system - it has its pros and its cons. I suppose in the long run it comes down to how badly one wants the cash that selling generates. As they say "I know what hell is, I work in retail!"

Huh? You have found a "business problem" and your solution is to take your ball and go home?
You must be venting, because any seller that has been around that long and gets their FIRST NAD claim must be doing something right. You just need a plan and "financing" for returns and you can continue your selling.
I know because when I started selling I had "no returns", stood on principle, got run over by the MBG, got off my high horse, opened my mind and learned how to do things. Now IF a "return happens" I just work the plan, no muss, no fuss, just a minor irritation.
So I'll challenge you to step up to the plate and adjust, adapt, improvise and overcome!

This was inaccurate information as there are other qualifications. Just being TRS doesn't entitle this seller to issue a partial refund. The seller doesn't take returns, which is required in order to refund partial amounts . Moreover this was a SNAD claim and buyer claimed it was fake.

I have had it all way around but a recent buyer took it to the limit, a work of art. The complaints started well before they received the item, first it was the fact that they didnt receive it the next day (processing times and mail service clearly stated) then it was that they feared it would arrive broken (it didnt) then the lack of tracking number and a suggestion that they might never recieve it. Finally they got it, I rand RM and they confirmed that it had been delivered so heres the next thing. Everyrhing was OK but the buyer claimed that if I didnt refund a partial 60 quid they would request a complete refund and send it back. Like a fool I refunded knowing full well that the item was as described in the listing. I have been with eBay for 21 years but I have a few moans.
1. I find the site very difficut to navigate.
2. Some things dont work on the site.
3. Custmer service is good but completely circular.
4. The buyer rules.
5. You cant base a life on it.
6. Transparency is a issue.
7. They are not embracing the technology to track and trace items well enough.
8. Its as good as it always was but it could be so much better.

TJ Max’s own study showed that 8% of their fragrances are fake.
