Buyer received refund, then received item. What to do?

 

These malicious buyers are common now with the covid 19 shipping delays. They take advantage of a  crisis for their own profit at the expense of a good seller.

 

If you are a victim of this type of buyer contact the US Postal Inspector Office and file a claim for mail fraud.  Who knows how many sellers they scammed. Maybe a call from the postal police will give them a second chance to be honest.

 

Also although you can only leave "positive" comments for a buyer, do so. Be kind and tell the truth. What policy for sellers leaving comments is unfair but it can still be useful.

"Buyer received refund, then received item. Did not give money back to seller. Thanks!"

 

And don't forget that you as a seller can leave a public reply to their negative feedback they posted for you. See above for suggestion. Or "covid shopping delay. Buyer refunded,  received item,  kept money. Not fair"

Be polite and send the buyer an invoice through PayPal to pay for the item ... if they no longer want it, then you can send them a return shipping label.

This is not mail fraud. 

 

Who knows how many sellers they scammed.

This is not a scam either.  It is a Money Back Guarantee claim ... the shipping service you contracted with failed to deliver the package in a timely manner. 

 

Yes, there is higher risk of delays during the pandemic, and there is only so much that you can do to minimize the risk (e.g., don't ship internationally, and don't use Media Mail).  So, if the risk is unacceptable, then the only thing a seller can do is to suspend selling until the Postal Service is able to get back to normal operations.

My experience shows that only very few people are willing to pay back to seller, after receiving a delayed package. 🙂 At least I know now, that these very few good persons are equally distributed around the world...
