Buyer opened "item not as described case and returned item before case was decided by eBay

I am not a regular seller on eBay. Recently I decided to clean out my purse closet and sell some of my Louis Voitton purses. All auction had plenty of pictures and I answered all questions I received in a very timely manner. All purse were listed as "used". The buyer of one of my purses Louis Vuitton EVA Monogram Crossbody Clutch Shoulder Bag (253551534031) contacted me as soon as he/she/it got the purse that it was not as described. I contacted eBay and got the answer that it very much is a case of buyers remorse and that the claim was unfounded due to the fact that it was listed as used. When I asked eBay to open the case and decided if the return was warranted I was told that I had to wait 4 days before the case could be opened. The buyer used these 4 days to simply return the purse and submitt a tracking number to eBay without me authorizing the return or even informing me of the return. When my wife unknowing;y what it was signed for the package on day 4 the case was automatically decided against me and the buyer got all money back and I even had to eat the shipping cost. Needless to say I am very disappointet in eBay's way of treating sellers.

eBay would have sided with the buyer anyway. You should have just accepted the return, you wouldn’t have won the case. Now you’ll get an unresolved by seller strike which is very bad.

Next time you clean out your purse closet, ask your wife to help you with the item descriptions, just as another pair of eyes. Also, had your wife refused delivery, the outcome would have been the same.

Your listing is very vague.

Also you cannot enforce your unpaid item policy because eBay gives them 48 hours before you can even file a case against them.

You are not allowed to give buyers negative feedback.

In the future accept the return and move on if you ask eBay to step in you will lose the return case and get a defect on your account.

Be happy they sent it back early and you saved the return shipping cost AND be happy you got it back in the same condition it was sent.  All you are out is the original shipping cost so relist it and sell it again.  A lot of other sellers aren't as lucky as you are.

You should be singing joys that you even got the purse back.

You should also be super excited that this is the only time this has happened to you.

Looking all thses replies I can only say that selling on EeBay obviously is not my thing.

Thank you for your insight. Always appreciate to hear from power sellers about how to become a better seller. I actually did apeal my case and it was granted and no action was taken against my account.

Did you have 3 of those bags? I see that 3 have sold.

You've sold a Galleria and have another listed now. Was the one that was sold also returned?

Are you aware that you can't leave the type of feedbacks you're leaving? If those buyers report the feedback, you'll have feedback violations in addition to the unresolved dispute ding!
