Hi Everyone.
I posted an item on the 7th November the day after the buyer paid.
I received an email yesterday telling me it had not been delivered.
It was sent 2nd class costing £1.22 the item cost £1.50.
What will be my next step.

You missed an important bit of information in your story: What does tracking indicate?
And also, you probably should return to your home site, eBay.uk, for help with this issue.

Most likely refund.
Is it past the estimated delivery date? That's the only thing you have to worry about,
I would try to talk the buyer into waiting (I assume you have tracking, if not, you're done).
I'm in the U.S., YMMV
I wouldn't refund until a case is open though.
