Buyer files PP chargeback after 150 days (May 22 2019) Please help.

Have a buyer that I just rec'd a chargeback for "unauthorized transaction" from Paypal, "The buyer reported that someone made the order without their permission." Of course at this point, the item record is gone off of eBay, USPS shows "label not yet in system" (of course it isn't showing up after 5 months I figure it is off the books there), and I can only imagine Paypal will look up record at USPS.com and say there is no proof of delivery. Tried calling Paypal (currently closed, reopen 6 am PST tomorrow), USPS (also closed, don't reopen till Monday), and eBay (no help, "Contact Paypal.").  But I am sure some of you have experienced this. What defense do I have??? I will call Paypal tomorrow, but I have nothing to fight with. Yes I have the tracking #, but it is no good anymore. Do they just take the $$$ & tell me "too bad"?? This just sucks. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

For Unauthorized, you only need a scrap of paper that shows you shipped to the address on the PayPal transaction details, and PayPal will fall on their knees for you.

To be eligible for PayPal’s Seller Protection program for a buyer’s Unauthorized Transaction claim, you must meet both the basic requirements listed above and the additional requirements listed below:

  • The payment must be marked “eligible” or “partially eligible” for PayPal's Seller Protection on the Transaction Details page.
  • You must provide proof of shipment or proof of delivery as described below.

Proof of shipment

Online or physical documentation from a shipping company that includes:

  • Date of shipment
  • An address for the recipient that matches the shipping address on the Transaction Details page
  • An address for the recipient showing at least the city/state, city/country, or zip/postal code (or international equivalent).

You have 2 options. 1..get lucky and get a non phillipines customer service agent who only reads from a script. 2...have a physical receipt from post office that matches your tracking. It wont show delivery any longer anywhere but it proves you gave an item to the post office going to that address. Paypal is very aware of scammers waiting out online info save dates.

I believe the USPS can unarchive your label tracking.  You would have to request it from your local PO or I believe I did it once online. UPDATE:  I just checked online and the USPS only holds tracking info for 120 days. You still may be able to retrieve it by calling. Doesn't PP or eBay shows that the item was delivered on your records?

Just got off the phone to Paypal. What a joke. I did provide & uploaded them a photo of my original USPS counter receipt from 5-22, showing actual shipment that day to destination city/state/zip of buyer. But as stated, the online tracking is no longer valid, I can contact USPS tomorrow since they are not open on Sunday. I can of course also go to my post office in person to ask if they can do any kind of archive retrieval of said tracking, but I doubt it, my post office hasn't been helpful with much of anything in the past, they are always so "busy", and you get brushed off with a canned answer & "we'll look into this" and it's over, as they don't even know who I am when I go back to see if "they've looked into it". Of course all the Paypal rep said was "we need ONLINE proof of delivery, that's our policy" to which I repeatedly said that it is not showing up any longer in the USPS system & if I can't get an archive retrieval of such record, I'm scre*ed. The Paypal rep was like "oh I understand how you feel, but we have policies in place that we have to abide by, & 3rd party online proof of delivery is a requirement in this case." I told them how I felt in blunt terms (no I didn't berate the rep in any way), putting analogies of the situation into a hopeless bottomless pit of any defense I really no longer have in this case, so I feel this is a lost cause. Scam artist ONE, honest seller ZERO. If it would turn out other than me having said funds yanked out of my account & back to recipient of goods as well as now a refund to boot, I'll let you know. Thanks for your replies, they are greatly appreciated. Thanks be all to Paypal & their lovely 6 month refund window & USPS for their no longer having the tracking record available. Conveniently filed by scam artist in month 5. Sweet.

@grannyfrannys

Go to your Post Master w/ the date shipped, to address, & the Tracking Number.

( The USPS re-uses #'s so you need the date ).

Request an INTRANET REPORT.

Submit that (upload a scan) to PayPal & they will forward to the CC company.

Wait & be patient & they'll close in your favor.

PayPal policy does not require tracking showing proof of delivery 150 days later. You only need to show Proof of Shipment @grannyfrannys.

PayPal is hoping you don't know PayPal policy. Here it is, dated September 3, 2019:

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full

for you to read out loud to PayPal these 2 highlighted sentences:

Your USPS counter receipt SHOWS MORE THAN "at least the zip code" -- for Proof of Shipment, you only need

1. "USPS" the Shipping Company,

2. the DATE of shipment, and

3. the zip code (the least)

"to be eligible for PayPal’s Seller Protection program for a buyer’s Unauthorized Transaction claim" as stated in PayPal policy.

@reda3615 - @myangelandmyprincess  Thank you for providing where I could find that PP policy for my type of transaction/dispute case. I just called PP back & spoke to a different representative. She said she thinks since I provided the proof of shipment (snapshot of original USPS counter receipt) that this should cover me (seller protection) for the case. I pointed out & read directly from the passage from their policy updates regarding I didn't need proof of delivery, just proof of shipment showing city/state/zip. I have to go to my post office shortly today, & I will ask about also obtaining an "intranet report" for this shipment (as @echo_and_zip mentioned above). My post office doesn't have a track record of being helpful in these types of situations (as I mentioned in my original post), but worth a shot if I keep having to dispute this. I thank all respondents so very much, I am moving forward and haven't gave up hope now thanks to you all.
