I sold a dress and the buyer requested a return because it doesn’t fit them. I said no returns on the listing and I really don’t want to have to deal with a return and then trying to sell it again. What would happen if I declined the return? Has anyone had this happen? I never have! Help!!

Have they started a return or just asking you?
If they've started a return claiming the item doesn't fit, that would be a remorse return and you don't have to accept it.
If they haven't started a return and just asking about a refund, don't be surprised if the not fitting issue turns into the item is damaged or not described correct and file an INAD.

Sellers lose almost every case filed. If they filed an item not as described case, you would lose. If they just said they were unhappy with it, there is a very slim chance you could win. I would issue a paid return label. Many buyers never get around to sending items back.

Sellers are not required to issue refunds for fit issues. This is known as a Remorse return, and eBay’s MBG does not cover these types of returns, so you can deny the return.

Yeah they did already request a refund. Good to know about the remorse thing though!

If they chose doesn't fit when they opened the return, you can deny the return.
They could still file a case on Pay Pal for 180 days.

I have declined returns for fit reasons when my listing so no returns. I simply decline politely and suggest they sell it themselves. Never had any issues or false claims made because of it.

@cream_couture just reminded me of something to watch out for, @blackbirdandcompany !
A year ago, I denied a Remorse request (listed 'no return'), eBay closed it in my favor. Then, the buyer opened a Not As Described claim with PayPal. I won that, too, but a year ago was the old days of selling on eBay.
Yes, certain buyers will find certain ways...
Proceed with caution.

Mine were not in the old days of selling on eBay. They were within the last 3-6 months. eBay has the messages of the reason the buyer wanted to return it. I think it is low risk of scam/getting someone dishonest.
I won't run my business out of fear. I take normal precautions, am honest and fair. If someone tries to scam me, I fight it.
