A few days ago, a buyer reached out about an item asking if the item would not arrive before Christmas Eve could he just do local pickup and meet me. I said sure.
We met up and he paid then (through Ebay). I did not realize there was an issue until I got a notice from Ebay the next day reminding me to ship the item. I saw at that time that he had paid for shipping instead of selecting local pickup. I refunded the cost of shipping not thinking about that not resolving the shipping issue. Twice I reached out to Ebay - via the AI assitstant asking to speak with an agent. Both times it said that an agent would be calling in approx. 2 minutes. I never heard from anyone.
I don't know what to do. I only saw the problem when I got a notice from Ebay the day after the exchange had taken place.
Ebay thinks I have not shipped an item. When I reached out to the buyer to see if there was something he could do on his end, he said thee wasn't and that I should just call customer support.
I am going in circles.

All you can do at this point is mark the item shipped.
You will not have any tracking so if the buyer files a Not Received case you will have to refund in full.
When you allow Local Pickup on an item and the buyer choses that option, the buyer is given a code that you put in the purchase at pick up.
Customer support cannot help you at this point.
Try marking the item shipped and you may not get a late shipping defect.
Fingers crossed the buyer doesnt file a Not Received case.

If the OP doesn’t ship within their handling time a defect will be issued for not getting tracking uploaded and validated. Marking an item as shipped won’t do anything to stop defects when there is no proof of shipping.

Use the printed label on an envelope and send him a thank you note.
Btw, since you didn't use a local pick up code, did you at least have him sign anything acknowledging receipt of the item?
