Bulk Shipping requires dimensions that do not apply

Hello,

another eBayer tried to ask this question but it was misunderstood and the answers did not apply.  So I'll try again.

Recently the bulk shipping tool started requiring dimensions on items have it should clearly not need to.  Regional flat rate boxes, small flat rate boxes and other like that.  If I try to process several items, these items are flagged as needing dimensions and it will not give me a drop down to add any dimensions.  It will only print labels for other items whether I add dimensions to those of not.

If I ship packages one at a time that is not an issue and dimensions are not required on the same flat rate boxes.  I've cleared cookies, etc.  Tried both IE and Chrome with not difference.

Are others having this problem?  Is eBay acknowledging anything like this?

Thank

You are on the classic bulk shipping page, not the new one

(even though I use the classic Seller Hub orders page I've been forced into the new bulk label flow.)

For anyone that gets forced onto on the new page, if for some reason the "Go back to classic label printing" link isn't there on the upper right, you can manually change the URL to redirect back to the classic page:

This is what a new bulk shipping URL looks like:

https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/bulk?t=283123456789-1911234567890&t=273987654321-2060987654321

insert

/rampRedirection?to=classic&

in that URL to make it look like:

https://gslblui.ebay.com/gslblui/bulk/rampRedirection?to=classic&t=283123456789-1911234567890
&t=273987654321-2060987654321

which will redirect to the classic bulk label page where the URL will look like:

https://shiptrack.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BulkShippingLabelPrint&bulkGrpId=31122334455

In the above URLS the t values are the 12 digit item number plus the 13 digit transId (eBay transaction ID) number for each item in the group of labels to be printed. (the transId can be obtained from the order details URL if needed). The classic bulk label URL bulkGrpId parameter is something eBay generates - I have never puzzled out its significance or how to obtain it for creating URLS like this.

The above manual procedure could easily be turned into an automated redirect (where you wouldn't even know you have been dumped into the new bulk label flow) using Redirector addon with a simple rule. (I didn't bother writing the rule as I don't use bulk shipping)

As far as an intermediate temporary solution to bulk printing Reg A labels until it gets fixed:

  • when on the page shown in your screenshot, try clicking on the shipping service
(in this case "Priority Mail® (1-3 days) - Regional Box A") for each item
  • change it to Parcel Select, then see if it lets you input dimensions
  • If so, change the service back to Reg A, and hopefully it sticks and will let you print.

(I can't test that as I always include dimensions in my listings - even for flat rate and Reg options - and the bulk flow doesn't have a missing dims issue for me.)

Re: Bulk Shipping requires dimensions that do not apply

The new bulk shipping tool is labeled "beta" at the top, and it has so many limitations and problems that I think it is problematic to use on a regular basis ... I would suggest that you identify the problems you are having, report them to eBay on the feedback link on that page, and then click on the old bulk shipping tool in the upper right to do your actual shipping.

Re: Bulk Shipping requires dimensions that do not apply

thanks for the reply. So is the example below from the new bulk shipping tool?  I don't see beta or the option to revert back.  In this example I get asked to input dimensions but it doesn't let me.

Re: Bulk Shipping requires dimensions that do not apply

brian@ebay  There have been multiple reports of this error with the Regional boxes.  Since this is the busiest shipping season of the year, do you think they could fix this?  And stop making unnecessary changes until after the New Year.

Sorry ... with all the problems arising out of the new bulk listing tool, I just assumed you were also experiencing yet another problem.

As mentioned above, there is a work-around for this software error.

  1. Select regular priority mail package.
  2. Enter in random weight, and then enter in random dimensions
  3. Select Regional A.

That should then correctly give you a "Not Required" under the dimensions.

brian.t@ebay        This issue was brought up in November & it is now the end of January & it is still going on.  Doesn't seem like it should be that hard to remedy.  Can you please ask your tech team to look into it again?
