I bought a item from a eBay seller that needs to be returned since it is defective. This item was shipped to me in a Amazon Prime bubble mailer with a piece of paper inside saying A gift for you with the order number, Send a Thank You Note and Amazon Gift Receipt on it. Why would that gift for you paper be inside the package? Did Amazon send me this item as a gift?

Do I return this to the return address (Amazon Fulfillment Services) that is on the label?

Contact the seller, it is their responsibility for damaged items even if they are dropshipped from a company.

resolution center...you open a case...and follow the procedure......

you can contact the seller first, but don't really need to...it is damaged...and it will be a not as described case...

the seller may refund you and say keep it(throw it away)...they may want a few picture too.....

There is also on the gift receipt a http address to go to for returns with about a 16-17 Order ID number.

When I go to that http address it takes me to Amazon and there is a box there to click on for returns.

Can I just go there for the return and will my money be refunded faster than going thru eBays Resolution Center?

That refund would go to the seller's Amazon account.

Actually it says " Refund will be issued to Me as an Amazon gift card credit."

Below that it says " Gift givers aren't notified when you return an item."

Also from what I can tell the seller paid Amazon around $33 for it and sold it on eBay for over $37 plus tax. If I went thru Amazon for the return I would only get what this seller paid Amazon and not what I paid them.

I think a call to Amazon may be in order since this seller is obviously using their Prime account to sell and ship Amazon items as "gifts".

I contacted them once when it came up on the discussion boards several months ago. They said they don't care. Perfectly fine with them.

Amazon doesn’t care who buys their items.

Open the not as described case here on EBay and the seller will send you a return label.

Actually they do care as it is a violation of the Amazon Prime Terms:

Prime members are not permitted to purchase products for the purpose of resale, rental, or to ship to their customers or potential customers using Prime benefits.

They do actually have a dept ( Customer Protection Review ) that checks the Prime accounts for shipping violations. A Prime Member certainly can't have hundreds or thousands of friends that they are having Amazon send "gifts" to.

Amazon will boot them out the door for violating their Prime Terms.

Everything Amazon ships has the "Prime" plastered all over it. It does not mean it was bought with a prime account. As far as an ebay seller selling an item and then buying it on Amazon and having it shipped to the buyer, it happens and niether ebay or Amazon cares; they both make money on it.

the 'send as gift box' on the Amazon order could have been checked by accident or the ebay seller would hope you would deal with Amazon for a gift card instead of bothering him if something was wrong with the order.

No, not unless you want to end up with an Amazon gift card that is less than you paid.

File an item not as described case with ebay. The seller will pay for the return label (to the seller) and you will get all your money back. You now know where you can buy it for less.

Yes it's considered dropshipped, there is nothing wrong with that and you do not know if they used a Prime account to order it. Any Amazon order can be sent as a gift and all orders are packaged with Prime wording.

I did open a case here on eBay and received a return shipping label sending it back to Amazon in KY, not to the seller in IN.

I contacted Amazons Customer Protection Review Dept about it and they wanted to know what info was printed on the shipping label and they would take it from there as far as the seller sending it as a gift.

Just like eBay they would not say what actions would be taken against the seller due to their privacy policy.

You need to stop contacting Amazon. You did not buy from them, you bought from an ebay seller.

You need to file a claim with eBay and get the correct label. If you don't receive the correct label, contact ebay again and tell hem you did not receive a label to ship it back to the seller. Ebay will send you one and the seller will be billed for it. Return the item to the seller and ebay will refund your money when the tracking shows he (the seller) receives it.
