Best way to ship clothes

Hi all!

I've been selling on eBay for several years, but with the exception of a few coats, I haven't sold much clothing.

I've decided to start selling clothes and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend the best way to ship? For example, if it's a lightweight cami, I don't want to use a box as the shipping will cost more than the product. Should I use envelope bags? If so, can someone recommend a seller on here to buy them in bulk?

thanks!

Re: Best way to ship clothes

I use a wonderful etsy seller, I am not sure if she has an ebay store so I don't want to share the name for a competitor site. Many sellers have Beautiful printed poly mailers of all sizes and designs. If you run a search you will find thousands of sellers. Good luck.

When I sell clothes, I always wrap in tissue paper before putting in the box or poly mailer. I think it just looks nicer.

@hugnkiss33

And if you ship USPS, for items over the First Class Package weight (15.999), USPS offers free Priority Mail Flat Rate cardboard envelopes and Flat Rate bubble mailers. You can order them online and they are free. Most of my vintage Levi denim jackets rolled up fit into the Bubble mailer. Right now they cost a flat rate of 8.00 to ship anywhere in the U.S.  but come January that rate will go up.

I ain't got the brains to make this up (Fantastic Beasts)

$8 is the retail cost. If you print your postage through eBay, then it will cost you $7.55 to ship a Priority Mail padded flat-rate envelope (going up to $7.75 in January).  Top-Rated Sellers get a further 3% discount on domestic Priority Mail.

For items that weigh over 2 pounds but won't fit into the flat-rate envelopes. your best option is a Regional A box, since the postage for those is just a few cents more than the postage for 2 pounds.

Re: Best way to ship clothes

I keep 3 sizes of poly mailers on hand. 9" by 12" and up. I always double bag them since I had a package arrive to a buyer that got grease stains when a postal machine grabbed it wrong.

You can also order free priority tyvek envelopes from the USPS-11 5/8 x 15 1/8 inches.  They ship by weight, where the regional rate A is up to 15 pounds for the 2 pound rate.

Re: Best way to ship clothes

Under 1lb I package in a clear bag (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07659R3VT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

then use a poly mailer (fantasybuy02). I keep the 14.5 x 19, 10 x 13, and 6 x 9 bags on hand.

Over 1lb will go in a Priority flat rate padded envelope or regional rate box.

Clothing is so easy to ship. Hard to post, easy to ship!

Re: Best way to ship clothes

Why hard to post? Because you have to provide all the measurements?

Yes, and you need good photos best in natural light. I do mine outside. DETAILED measurements not just the size on the tag. Any flaw no matter how minor needs to be documented in photos and description.

Heck I can whip out a dozen book listings in the time it takes to do one piece of clothing. But still eBay is always my first stop for jeans as only Levi's and Lucky's fit me well and I'd have to drive over an hour to shop for Levi's and close to 3 to get to a store carrying Lucky's.
