I sold an as-is no returns commercial VCR on Ebay as unique-auctiions. Buyer and i talked at great length about all details. Shipped item and he ssnt me photos where he had taken the unit apart and had parts like the video head in his hand. Then said could not be repaired and returned it. I kept telling Ebay the only way this is possible is to unscrew and unsolder wires and tear it apart. I have been warned for ages thaf people aremhsing Ebay to scam people to get free replacement parts and make them pay postage both ways and is a total loss.... well it is true and Ebay dis not listen and told them makes no sense for him to send photos of the unit gutted and not have any intentions not scammy to do a parts switch. Right now am about to call lawyer and have him demand Ebay refund this and make sure the policy is if you take it apart you cannot return it. So far not one person in Ebay listened or seemed to understand when a VCR has been gutted into parts it cannot be sent back as shipped. Any help will listen, if anyone knows anyone in Ebay i now can confirm this scam is real and Ebay is acting as a partner with the scammers and offering no help at all Media needs to be made aware this is happening. Am out $600.

Very sorry to hear about this.
But, regrettably, "no returns" is at best a theoretical notion here on eBay, overridden by eBay's money back guarantee.
You say you have been warned for ages... and yes, everything you've heard is true.
eBay does not have the resources to mediate disputes between buyers and sellers -- and photos are dismissed as evidence because they cannot be proven to be accurate.
So we are left to the tender mercies of artificial intelligence which -- as a certain fellow with a chainsaw and declining electric car sales likes to say -- is far more dangerous than nuclear weapons.
I have a $900 antique listed and am seriously considering removing it from eBay for this very reason.
PS: A lawyer will not be able to help... Section 15 of the eBay user agreement that you signed when you joined eBay says that you agree to not hold eBay liable for the abuse that you describe above.

VCR's can be tough because of so many working parts.
What VCR did you sell for $600 and how did you test it? Are all of your communications through eBay messages, including the pictures of the unit pulled apart? (dissembled) You don't show any activity (sale) on this account for the VCR, how long ago was the sale?

Seems in 'as is' sales, Ebay will always rule in the buyers favor.
