Automatic Shipping Calculator Inaccuracies?

Hello,
I am probably doing something wrong but the last few items I have sold on ebay after a decade hiatus or so when I use calculated shipping and buy the label through ebay the label is always a few dollars more than they charge the buyer automatically for shipping so I am paying the margin. Its usually under a couple bucks so its not the biggest deal but kinda the entire point of using the automated shipping is so its accurate so I do not understand what I am doing wrong here.

I choose shipping only, put in the weight and size, then select buyer pays and it will say for example:

"The buyer will pay: $5.00–$5.80 Cost is based on buyer’s location." But when the auction ends and I buy my label from ebay with all the exact same info it is automatically pulling from the auction information it will be off by a dollar or two.

Should I just start using flat rate shipping and choose the highest estimated cost for everyone? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Re: Automatic Shipping Calculator Inaccuracies?

@awesomecheapdeals Can you provide:

- Item number

- Package weight

- Package dimensions

- Carrier & shipping service

- Amount buyer paid

- Actual label cost

Your DVD lot, item 226740802689, charged a flat rate of $6.44 for Ground Advantage. You did not set it up with calculated shipping. That's probably where the problem is coming in. $6.44 is the discounted eBay rate for a 3 lb Ground Adv package to zone 1 (your own zip code) and if the buyer lived farther away the rate could go as high as $12.52 if the weight/dimensions didn't change.

As usual @wastingtime101  is correct: Your listings are not set up with calculated shipping. I checked another one of your recent Sold listings (Suydam comics) and that, too, was set up with a flat shipping price.

Re: Automatic Shipping Calculator Inaccuracies?

Hey, sorry I didn't reply until now (I find it confusing that ebay separates notifications across like 5 different interfaces **bleep** had no idea anyone replied). I realized there is a glitch with my account where I have to hit calculated shipping multiple times for the setting to take effect and give it the range instead of that flat rate. I had it on calculated shipping and it looked like that was selected but it doesnt actually change it until I click it multiple times and I see the price change to a range instead of a single amount. Still have this issue every time I upload an item for sale but now I know to triple check it.

I've never heard anybody experiencing that issue @awesomecheapdeals so it may be something with your browser or similar. You can work around the issue by creating business policies instead.
