The last few months every week I get charged an extra $4-8 for all my larger packages saying that my weight was off because the label said that it was some hundreds of oz instead of the "amount on the label" which is the exact same just in lbs instead of oz. (ie the most recent two I got were, 752 oz instead of 47lbs and 512oz instead of 32lbs). FYI those are the same weight in oz as lbs and my labels are always lbs not oz so not sure where they got that from. (By my estimate I have been overcharged for shipping by at least $500 in the last 4 months) The stupid part is I have been doing this for over a decade now and I haven't changed how I ship things, if the scale says it is 41.1 lbs I put 42 if the tape measure says it is 19.1 x 20 x 21.2 I put 20 x 21 by 22 and yet now I am being charged $4 -8 because of a broken system that they won't fix ?!?!??!! I am about ready to throw in the towel!!!!!!!
Anyone else dealing with stupid "claims" on their labels or is this just a glitch that is affecting only me?

it's not ebay who is charging you extra. Ebay is just relaying the charges it received from USPS who use automatic systems to check the dimensions and weight vs what is on the label. I don't use ebay, I use other provider and I occasionally get similar charges from that provider. I can however challenge the charges via a link.
For that purpose, I take a photo of each package on an electronic scale, and if the package is close to 1cu ft or more I also take a photo with a ruler.
I send this info and so far all these extra charges have been reversed.

If you are seeing these, upgraded charges from FedEx, so are a lot of sellers.
I am using UPS for the bulky/heavy stuff and never seeing any extra charges.

Fedex is the worst for that.

No I have been using UPS and USPS exclusively the last several months and all these charges have been UPS.
My big problem, is that the claimed weight on the label and actual weight are the same just one in oz and other in lbs

Yeah they were which is one reason I stopped using them as soon as UPS was added to ebay

I know it is not ebay that is charging me it is UPS but the main problem I have is that the claimed weight on the label and actual weight are the same just one in oz and other in lbs
So the most recent message I got said the weight stated on the label was 752 oz and that the actual weight of the item was 47lbs but my label said 47lbs and 512oz instead of 32lbs.
Yes I have been keeping documented track so can prove that the labels said 47lbs and 32lbs respectively so I just dont understand why they are claiming it was the wrong weight but even state that it is the correct weight.
eBay NEEDS to have a way to contest stuff like this because this feels like it is some automated thing that UPS did that is now over charging

Hello - If its UPS, they may be trying to bill you for Dimensional Weight versus Actual Weight. This happens when a package is light for its volume. Essentially they are charging you a minimum for how much space the package takes up in their trucks. The formula is Length * Width * Height / 166.
I don't know if your example was real but for a 20" x 21" x 22" package its 55 lbs 11 oz in Dimensional Weight. If the actual weight is less than that they will surcharge you the difference up to 55 lbs 11 oz. The bigger the box the more likely this is to be a problem. Also UPS says to round down linear measurements under 1/2". Rounding 20.1" up to 21" is not what they say and can make the too light for its size problem worse.
This happened to me once, and it was the same as you said. The discrepancy was stated as the exact weight I paid for but in ounces not pounds. I was able to demonstrate to the eBay chat rep that the math didn't make sense and get a credit. But it was a pain...
Other possible UPS surcharge causes copied from eBay rep email"
You were charged for an ‘additional handling charge’ for the packaging. Additional Handling can apply whenever:
• An item is not fully encased in corrugated cardboard.
• When a package weighs more than 50 pounds.
• If the package's longest side is longer than 48 inches if its second longest side is greater than 30 inches long.
• Any cylindrical-like item, such as a barrel, drum, pail, or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated." cardboard shipping container."

I Haven't had any extra charges for my shipping, but I have been refunded twice for being over charged on shipping. Both times weren't much, but still, it happened. They showed up as credits in my payments section.

I've had the most issues with FedEx.
I've contacted eBay CS and asked them to file a dispute. It worked the first time. Awaiting the outcome of the 2nd.
FedEx wants to round up to the next pound (i.e. 2 lb 1 oz is 3 lb.. then they add an extra pound to that = 4 lb). FedEx's system is really messed up.

I never had any issues with FedEx on packages that where 2 lb.s' 2 oz's that I moved to 3 lb.'s . Never once did they get 4 lb. rate bump up .
