Anyone else having issues filing a missing mail form on the USPS website?

I had a package that was supposed to be delivered last week (Friday) & the buyer is in the same state as me (3hrs away to be exact) so it's absolutely wild it's not been delivered yet. It's currently reading that 'in transit, arriving late/moving through the network' status on the USPS website.

In an effort to be proactive since I'm sure the buyer is getting frustrated on an almost 1.5/2 week delivery from within the same state, I figured I'd file a 'where is my mail/missing mail' form on the USPS website. I entered the tracking information and it's telling me I can' t file until after 12/5 and I can't proceed with the form. It's currently 12/7 so clearly it is after 12/5!

I remember the nightmare the last 2 years dealing with the USPS during the holidays; I know they're doing their best and I'm not upset with them but filing the form usually, at the very least, showed I was attemping to help the buyer/stopped the buyer from getting too upset. I'll likely try calling the helpline but I know that's a coin flip since they get a bunch of calls this time of year so figured I'd ask if anyone else was experiencing issues with it.

Thank you!!

Call the customer service number with the tracking number and request a package research case be opened.. usually 4-5 days and something happens.

Constantly site problems there, and 5-10 "estimated" business days waiting for a reply with the site forms..

We Actually had responses as far out as 3months after the late package was delivered..

Happy Holidays!

Yeah, I'll probably attempt to call the CS line when they open/before I have to head into work. Last year, I didn't have a problem with just sending a missing mail request to them and it would seem to 'shake loose' the package (though, I did also have delayed responses back similar to your experience) so I was hoping for similar this time. Not sure why it's changed - maybe they got too many requests and now the system is wonky.

Happy Holidays to you as well!!

I've been having the exact same issue as you for several packages I had shipped out around the Thanksgiving holiday and to buyers in the same state, but tracking have not been moved forward and my customers have confirmed that they have not received their packages.  Like you, I can't proceed beyond a certain point with the online form.  I am planning to go to the post office tomorrow to try to speak with the postmaster and figure out what is going on.

I have always found out where my package is when  the buyer hasn't received it yet. No, calling CS will not work or the website for me. I just walk to the post office and give the clerk the tracking number and they tell me what is going on. The same thing when my package hasn't arrived yet.
