I am a buyer/seller from LI, NY and for at least the last 4 months I have had terrible problems with the USPS shipments coming to me. With the items I've sent out there have been some delays but nothing too out of the ordinary. However the items coming to me have been been damaged, delayed or lost with alarming frequency. I currently have 3 shipments with long delays and bizarre tracking histories. Even priority mail shipments have been effected with two coming very late and one lost in the ether. Since the missing shipments mostly contain new inventory, I decided to take the rest of this month off from buying and selling while I try to track down these missing shipments.
I am curious as to whether or not others have seen a spike in USPS problems or am I just experiencing an unusual run of bad luck?

Nothing unusual ... actually haven't had a single shipping problem with the USPS in many months.

You're experiencing an unusual run of bad luck. Or maybe not. I would say that if this has been going on for months, and (especially) involving packages from different senders that all seem to run into the same problems, then your local area PO and sorting office would be the one area that all these problem shipments have in common.
I don't know what to suggest, beyond maybe printing out some of your worst tracking experiences and showing them to your local postmaster, in case he can knock some heads together and maybe get some better results in future.

The problem with damaged packages may well be the carrier but I can't prove anything. I have two carriers who alternate the route, one is great and the other is awful. I can't prove she has done any specific damage though I have seen her carelessly drop packages to the ground. As for the late and missing items, none of them even got to the regional hub in Jersey City, NJ so my local PO is certainly not to blame. It is frustrating but hopefully I will have better luck when I come back next month.
