Am I in the wrong for not accepting a refund request?

Long story short, I bought a CB radio last year at a truck stop, took it out of the box and never installed it, and it was sitting on my closet shelf. I sold it on eBay.

Item Listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/312926177539

He sent a message stating he wanted a full refund and wanted to return the item because the radio never came with brackets (which weren't included) or mentioned/pictured in the sale, and stated that there is no sound coming from it after he hooked it up.

I have on all my eBay auctions that I have a no refund/no return policy, it's an as is sale. Was I right in denying his refund request?

Thanks.

Am I in the wrong for not accepting a refund request?

So at this point, he has a fault with the antenna (different purchase), not the radio, so he is now unable to file a claim if he wants, correct? Since this message was sent via eBay messaging?

Wrong. If no case/formal request to return was opened it is still possible.

Just messaging between a buyer/seller has nothing to do with a formal request.

They could give you glowing feedback one day, and open a return request the next day.

Hopefully you are done with this buyer.  :  >  )

ADDED EDIT:  they have 30 days from delivery to open a request on eBay .

They have 180 days on PP

Update: He stated he purchased an approved antenna and there is no sound. He stated
"I bought an approved antenna and there is no sound coming from the unit....I think there is a sound problem....I checked that it had power when I received...but could not test mic or sound without antenna....is this the way you want to start out on ebay?"

Should I stand by my no refund policy?

As it's not in working condition you do not have the right to deny him a return.

Your "no refund" policy only applies to "remorse" returns.

The eBay MBG over rides your policy if a case is opened for an item "not as described".

If a INAD is opened, you must accept the return. You can "do nothing", and eBay will refund from your wallet, and give you a seller defect.

As long as it is just a message you can ignore.
