Any advice on getting EBay to actually read your messages before siding with buyer in a dispute?

We have a buyer who did NOT read the description for one of our rings, bought it, then asked to return it as it was in the mail. We do not offer returns due to many people buying our rings, wearing them for special occasions then returning them THUS treating them as a absolute free rental. We are very detailed in our descirptions and state NO RETURNS. Buyer insisited. We offered to replace the ring for her. She refused and opend a dispute then proceed to outright LIE on the dispute request. I just called Ebay and they have already sided with her but said they would look over my messages with her if I wanted.

WHAT??? Why did you not look over the messages before deciding? How HOW HOW?? How can I get Ebay to work fairly on both sides?? We did everything and more that Ebay ask of us. We were honest in the descriptions, tried diligently to work with the buyer and still got shafted.

This is the pure nonsense reason Ebay sided with the seller "You can't work things out". That is CORRECT Ebay. The seller would not work with us AFTER buying irresponsibly. Thanks for shafting us $325 plus making us pay for return shipping we we clearly stated we do not offer returns.

The forced returns are becoming a joke. I had a buyer state no reason and ebay representative said they would approve the return anyway because the buyer is not required to elaborate on what is wrong with the item.

Buyers are completely abusing  the returns process and honest sellers are getting hot with fake returns and shipping costs. Every buyer now automatically selects "not as described" to get that free return label.

Someone at ebay needs to review these policies. They will lose good sellers.

Yes now get ready to get even MORE UPSET when you get a defect for not working things out with your buyer.

Ebay is allowing Forced Theft and Extortion.  They encourage it and condone it.  I write about this all the time.  Ebay does not care about us.  You can call until you are blue in the face and nothing will happen.

I keep saying (and I know its close)  won't be to long now until the class action is here.

Ebay just says that it is "the cost of doing business"  I report all the bad eggs.  They keep letting them conduct business on here.  I go and investigate feedback left for others and see where buyers are truely extorting money from sellers.  Bring it to Ebays attention and nothing happens.

Good Luck I wish I had othere answers for you, but unfortunately I do not.

what? I am surprised what people reply in this thread. You are a seller, you want buyers to be happy, make the buyer happy and accept the return. No one can decide anything until you RECIEVE this item back and you INSPECT it, give ebay and your customers a chance to do you right, and stop being grumpy, no one has stolen from you yet on this transaction, could be this buyer made a mistake, you know NOTHING until it comes back about the integrity of the buyer and neither does eBay.

Not really. I don't think Ebay reads anything or investigates anything. It's easier just to get it over with and move on.

Per what the rest of you are saying about how ebay treats us.. don't you people recognize communism when you see it?

No matter how many times you say "no returns,' anybody can still return anything ON YOU.

Don't forget that when listing items.

Re: Any advice on getting EBay to actually read your messages before siding with buyer in a dispute?

Rough Eye,

I dissagree with you.  According to OP they requested a return before they even received the product.  OP has a no return POLICY.  OP is upset because Ebay is forcing them to take the product back.  If I am wrong then please tell me, I will accept the critisism .

The original shipping and the return shipping along with insurance as I am sure the OP paid for, is gone.  Paid for by the OP.  I am sure that bill was at least 10.00 if not more.  How can the buyer decide if they like it or not if they do not have it.....then open a case.  That is why we put NO RETURNS on our listings.

It is forced theft.  It is the OPs money, they had if forcibly taken away from them, even if the product does come back as shipped the shipping cost to send and received the package back just to start with.  The definition of stealing by Webster's Dictionary is

1a : to take or appropriate without right or leave and with intent to keep or make use of wrongfully
  • stole a car
b : to take away by force or unjust means
  • they've stolen our liberty
c : to take surreptitiously or without permission
  • steal a kiss
d : to appropriate to oneself or beyond one's proper share : make oneself the focus of
  • steal the show
2a : to move, convey, or introduce secretly : smuggle
b : to accomplish in a concealed or unobserved manner
  • steal a visit
3a : to seize, gain, or win by trickery, skill, or daring
  • a basketball player adept at stealingthe ball

  • stole the election
b of a base runner : to reach (a base) safely solely by running and usually catching the opposing team off guard

I have never had an email response from eBay. I always (waste) my time and call. When you get CS, ask for a department (like feedback, returns, escalation, etc)..They have more power than CS

eBay does not offer email support. You can only call them.

Where do you see that? Is it on the "help and contact" page?

I believe it was "report a buyer"...You are correct, there are not any other links to email eBay though....but I did do an email on "report a buyer" and no response...Hence, I called them as it was a big issue !!

Yeah, they don't ever reply to those. I don't know if they even read them. Smiley Very Happy

It seems to work better to call them about problem buyers.

I am still learning after 10 years and 27,000 ads on eBay. Seems like there are more problem buyers lately. It pays to educate ourselves - and learn from others!
