Another Problematic Transaction – Skirt's "Size is Different"

Here's another trasnaction problem I've had the past month:

Buyer wanted a lower price on an A-Lined skirt. I said no. Listing also said No Returns. She purchased it anyway. She received it and was "out of the country" for a whole weekend and some days. She writes me an email today, attaching pictures, saying the skirt is much larger than the size Large that she has in the same skirt. She also attached pictures measuring the skirt in an awkward way.

I had measurements in listing. I don't know if she read them. I measured the waist across by first pulling the ends of the skirt to straighten the curve to get 15.75" which is 31.5" across. She measured the skirt open, flat on the floor and just put a measuring tape across and somehow got 34"+. Because it's A-Line and isn't straight on the waist while flat, I feel like she's not measuring correctly.

She also claimed the skirt might be unauthenthic. I sent her a screenshot of the transaction on the company's website where I purchased the skirt from. I'll wait for a response.. I guess.

While she didn't directly say she wants to return, I'm already seeing her aiming at it. I'm almost sure that, this is one of those cases that even though you give the label size, the measurements, the buyer can still return the item based on how they measured it and say the seller is wrong.

*Sigh* Just wanted to share this one.

Sounds like buyers remorse trying to find a way out- LOL far too many concerns considering you did your due dilligence.  Call ebay CS and explain. They've usually understood my concerns and supported me.

I think it is a bad idea in general to not accept returns.   Fair or not, this is often what you get when you don't.

APPLE...

You said CS supported you on   a  similar  "size"  issue!    I am  surprised  to  heat that.
But   I  guess  this   seller  could make an   attempt  to  try  this.    Unfortunately,  if  buyer  files  a  SNAD----seller has  to  be  very  careful   not  to  get a Defect---due to  what they  will   call   an  "unresolved"   dispute.  Smiley Sad

Re: Another Problematic Transaction – Skirt's "Size is Different"

I had a return policy in the past. It doesn't really do much better. I got returned products that were obviously used, or tampered with. That was a small amount of buyers. The others, the buyer would try to avoid paying return shipping (especially for heavy items with $11+ shipping). Whether it was clothes, electronics, home decor, anything, it happened. In my experience, it didn't make much difference whether my return policy is No Returns or Yes 14-Days. A bad buyer would file SNAD regardless. That's just me.

In this case, if I'm wrong with the measurements, I could admit my mistake. But, it's odd to me because she purchased this and said it's too large in her measuring (34"+). Even if it was the correct measurement (31.5" as I stated), it still wouldn't fit her original 30" skirt that she used for comparison. She purchased a skirt that's 1.5" inch larger than her current one and expected it to be the same size...

Anyway, she messaged me back saying even though it's labeled as a size "Large", it fits like "XL" or "XXL".

I'd tell her congrats on losing weight  lol

All kidding aside, you can tell her tough luck (nicely) as it was sold with no returns and it's directly from the manufacturer with measurements provided - or you can tell her to return it for an item price refund.

I told her she can return it with some conditions (restock fee, must be original item, return shipping, etc). I'll wait for her reply. I'm not going to go back and forth arguing over measurements. She sent me a second set of measurements that were different in each picture (again). There's really not point, so I just offered her a return with some conditions.

Re: Another Problematic Transaction – Skirt's "Size is Different"

sizes and people are not always universal...and lets face it they way things fit are up to the person...

first.. your return policy is not going to out weigh EBAY policy...so if she opens a case..you'll more than likely lose...

she can return it for refund, or you figure out what she would like as a partial...BOTTOM line is you want her to be happy..give a good feedback...then move on....

clothing is tricky in ways other stuff isn't... and you'd have to expect this kind of thing...and not saying it isn't a scam to get a little or all refunded..some of that goes on out there, but she can return it and you'll refund anyways....

i'd try to cut my loss...and get out of it in the best laigh as possible....right?

Re: Another Problematic Transaction – Skirt's "Size is Different"

As said above, I already offered her a refund. And as stated, I'm already aware of my return policy and eBay's return policy. I'm only sharing another problematic buyer encounter.

If she thinks the measurements don't match, then so be it.
