one who feels the rising shipping cost prices are starting to get a little out of hand?

Work the increased costs into your asking prices. Problem solved.
Meantime, it's pointless to fret about things that are outside your control.
Read the Greek philosopher Epictetus. He's really excellent.

As a buyer, I'm in between Tulsa and Joplin and we have Walmart in between and Mom and Pop shops.
If I had to drive to Tulsa or Joplin to get an item or have it delivered for $20 - $30, I'm having it delivered.
Some complain about the shipping charges, but could you deliver the package or go pick up the item for the same price or cheaper then the carriers charge?

It got out of hand long ago. Back then we had the no sales tax advantage to offset some of it. Inflation is still a serious problem even if the media says otherwise.

Not necessarily the case with low-cost items.
Pricing in higher shipping costs leads to a new problem: No sales because the total price is perceived as too high.
A cheap $10 item can easily become $20 or more for the buyer with shipping and taxes.

You're correct.
Which is an excellent argument for not selling low cost merchandise.
In the final analysis it all boils down to how much the individual invests in a product to re-sell.
And mastering that skill is both an art and a science.

There were many items which cost more to ship than the items were worth before the current round of shipping cost increases.
The value of many items dropped more than the impact on inflation on the purchase of necessities.
We all should have been monitoring what we sell and adjusting our merchandise offerings - now it is essential.
The days when someone could make any significant amount of money on Ebay based on random purchases have passed. One needs a strategy, reliable means of sourcing, and an understanding of the market for your products and the competition.
Sometimes it feels like the entire world has decided to annihilate Ebay sellers - or at least some portion of the Ebay sellers.

No but you may be the last one to notice it.
Most of the time it is still cheaper than retrieving/delivering it yourself as others have stated. I would agree that if you just build the extra cost into your item, you will never notice it. Just keep your margins fat.
While you are absorbing some of the shipping costs into your items, you can also add 2% PL into them as well to give you an edge. YMMV
