Am I Getting Scammed?

We sold a very expensive vintage t shirt to buyer located in Thailand, shipping to a forwarding address in Oregon. We shipped to the address in Oregon from the order. The item got returned to sender for Vacant address. We contacted the buyer to reconfirm their address, and they confirmed the same Oregon one. We talked to the post office, and had them scan it again and send it back to Oregon. We even got a receipt of the new scan, however it doesn’t show any new scans online. Just now the buyer opened an item not received case, saying they moved, even though they confirmed the address in Oregon twice. We shipped, and now they opened the case. The item has no more tracking scans. I fear this is a scam. Do we have any recourse?

Does NOT matter where the 'buyer' is from- if the items tracking shows it was delivered to the address that showed on the original purchase (meaning you did NOT edit the address) then all you have to do is give the tracking number in the 'case' that was opened. Once you do that, you will 'win' the case, it will be closed.

I have receipts for the label, but it is showing delivered to me after it was initially out for delivery to the buyer. However I don’t have the item in my possession since it was put back in the mail after being returned to sender. I did get a receipt from the post office, but the online tracking doesn’t show any updates.

There are quite a few freight forwarders in Oregon because Oregon has no state sales tax.

If you shipped to the address given on the invoice when the buyer paid, your job was done.  Have no idea why it was returned to you.

Hi @furtherco . In your second screenshot, click the button that says "update tracking details for the buyer" and on the next screen it should auto-populate the tracking number and you can click a submit button. Then in a few days you'll have the option to "ask eBay to step in" - when that option appears click it and in the comment box write something like: Buyer provided invalid address at checkout. Carrier attempted delivery.

eBay should close the case in your favor. Bottom line is you are covered by eBay seller protections. If you have any other questions come back and let us know.

@furtherco

I’m not sure why you didn’t just refund when the item was returned to you.

Not a scam, necessary, but not wise to resend to a place that was wrong the first time.
