Advice on Global Shipping problem

Good morning,

I do not sell a lot via the GSP, but like how easy it is. I sold a vase to a customer in China.

The vase was about $400. I had it packed by a shipping service due to the size, 19" and the price.

We the buyer received the vase and messaged me that it was broken.

I asked him to open a return in ebay so we could handle the refund.

He opened the case in pay pal and I am not sure where to go from here. I have asked 3 times for him to open the case in ebay and he say there are technical issues.

So where do I go at this point?

Thank you to all of you veteran sellers out there that might help me out with this.

GSP claims should be handled the same way through PP as through eBay in most cases.   If the item was forwarded by the gsp and is received broken the gsp is deemed to be responsible and they are the ones to refund the buyer, not the seller. Sometimes a PP rep has to be prodded and reminded that the gsp is responsible but the same can happen in an ebay/gsp claim case.

Yeah, I get that it is Pitney Bowe's responsibility under an eBay claim, but I'm curious if PayPal is able to navigate getting Pitney Bowe's to assume responsibility since it seems to me that the GSP is an eBay program and not a PayPal program.   Like I wrote earlier, perhaps there is some sort of back-channel agreement.

Hope it works out for the OP.

Re: Advice on Global Shipping problem

I am fairly sure that this will work out in your favor.  Worst case scenario, the buyer has to pay for the item to be returned.

I sell GSP frequently.  I'd say 10% of sales are GSP.  Ebay has always handled my claims (not that I have many).  I have never had a situation where they opened a claim through paypal.

Please come back and let us know what happens with this claim.

Re: Advice on Global Shipping problem

Just would like to say thank you to everyone that helped me out  with this.

PayPal ruled in the buyers favor, but found the shipping company at fault.

So glad I used the advice I received and saved all of my information for this case.

I submitted every piece of email and paperwork to PayPal and I think that really helped also.

Thanks everyone again!

A happy ending for this ebay seller.
