I’ve tried to get rid of most of my larger items before dimensional pricing started but I have one left. Because the price ballooned so much with the box I had intended to send it in when purchased, I decided to look through my stash of (mostly amazon) boxes to be used for shipping. I found one that is a tighter squeeze than I usually like to have and it brought the price down, but when I’m choosing the shipping method I’m getting a choice I don’t usually get:USPS Retail Ground.
From what I’ve read USPS Retail Ground can only be purchased at the post office? I sure would like to use it because with it I can send that item for $9.80-23.02 as opposed to $14.05-54.56 for USPS Parcel Select.
any help in this matter? Thanks!

Bring it to your post office & buy the postage , more likely to sell with a much lower shipping cost.

You can set up the listing with Retail Ground, but you have to buy it at the counter.
Keep in mind that Retail Ground for the shipments you want is only available for Zones 5-9. Zones 1-4 are for Hazardous/Special Handling (live animals) shipments.
It certainly makes it challenging to set up the listing properly.
I decided to add UPS for my larger shipments. My UPS account is linked in PayPal, and the UPS store is 1 mile away.
This is the cost difference for a Zone 5 shipment. Both shipments weigh 7 or 8 lbs, but the dimensions are 18x12x12 and 24x16x6 - billed at 16 & 14 lbs respectively.
