A cancel transaction case: How should I proceed?

A week ago, I bought a Steam wallet code from a supposedly trusted seller (from whom I had also made a purchase in the past and had encountered no issues back then), only to find out that it was already used. Seller provided a screenshot of them asking for and getting the activation time of said code by asking a member of Steam Support. However, I responded by pointing out several inconsistencies in the screenshot: from the abnormally short amount of time it took a Steam Support admin to respond to their claim, to the fact that Steam Support doesn’t actually provide this kind of information (I had already contacted Steam Support myself and they told me as much, and the time it took for my query to be addressed was considerably longer than theirs). After the seller refused to address any of my arguments and insisted that the code was used after it was delivered to me and that it was a problem on my end, I filed a SNAD claim on Monday. The option of asking eBay to step in should become available today. Now, for some reason, I still can’t find the “ask eBay to step in” button, but something different happened.

A few hours ago, I received this message: “seller recently opened a cancel transaction case for an item you recently purchased. And when I go to the resolution center, I see that the claim status has been updated, that the seller wants to cancel this transaction and that my action is required.

Now, I’m still a complete noob when it comes to eBay (it’s only my fourth ever purchase and the first one I’ve ever had trouble with), but if I understand this correctly… this means that the seller is giving up from continuing this dispute and is willing to refund me? Is that what this is? If so, do I get back the full amount? And given that I made this purchase using the credit/debit card option and not PayPal or PayPal credit, how long is it going to take before the money is back in my account? And are there any steps in this procedure that I'm not aware of?

Sorry if these questions sound extremely basic, but as I said, I am a complete newbie, and I don’t want to make some incredibly idiotic mistake. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: A cancel transaction case: How should I proceed?

Doesn't the "I accept the seller's request to cancel this transaction" warn you not to accept unless you've already received your refund?

And since you didn't, you can't. Decline, then go back and escalate the case.

The EBay MBG does NOT cover digitally delivered items.  IMO your only chance is to file a chargeback with your Debit/CC
