I searched for 60w incandescent light bulbs. I chose the cheapest ($12.50 for 6). I didn't read closely and when they arrived, they were black light bulbs. Totally my mistake. I requested to return them. It was approved, but when I went to print the shipping label, it was a Priority Mail label at a cost of $9.50! I searched for a way to change it to First Class (the same way it was shipped to me), but there was no obvious way to change the label.
So I had eBay call me. The nice lady had no clue how to address the problem. Her first suggestion was "Use the Priority Mail label and the Post Office will correct it to First Class when they get it" I insisted that was wrong and she said "You have to let USPS do it because eBay doesn't deal with labels". I asked to speak to someone else, hoping to get someone with 1/2 a brain. Ryan from returns got on the line. He said I could just purchase a First Class label and input the correct tracking number on the return tracking. After I got off the phone I discovered there is no place to input the tracking number. I hope I get a survey on this interaction. No wonder customers file false INAD returns, trying to do it the right way doesn't work!
Has anyone dealt with this? I don't mind paying for shipping, it was my mistake. But if the item was shipped to me by First Class, why does eBay only offer a Priority label for me to purchase to return it? At this point I am 1 hour into this simple return!

Lyan is is not lyan, @thecollectionbuyer: You buy the First-Class label yourself, then call eBay to enter the tracking number. eBay removed the option for buyers to add return tracking numbers themselves.

why doesn't ebay allow sellers to print a first class shipping label?

The seller is NOT responsible for this return. The buyer made the mistake.

Sellers can print a first class label. Not sure what your question is geared toward solving as it is the BUYER who needs to buy the label. The buyer will need to buy the shipping outside of ebay.
