1st Class Postage

eBay deceptive 1st Class Postage option. eBay allows you to choose 1st Class Postage in your draft, but when you go to print the label after the sale, no 1st Class option is available, even though your package meets the USPS 1st Class qualifications. This is a very deceptive policy and it should be changed to either allow 1st Class as an option in both the draft and the printing of the label, or eliminate the option altogether.

eBay First Class package = Ground Advantage

The only way to print first class envelopes is with eBay Standard Envelope.

the eBay Standard Envelope has strict limitations on its weight and size. Those guidelines are as follows:

  • The envelope and its contents weigh 3 oz or less
  • The value of the card is $20 or less
  • Dimensions are not smaller than 5 x 3.5″ or larger than 6.125 x 11.5″
  • Thickness of the envelope is uniform, not too rigid, and less than 0.25″ at any point
  • No clasps/strings/buttons included in the envelope
  • Shippers must write or print the recipient address parallel to the longest side of the envelope
  • Envelope can not be enclosed or made of any plastic materials

1st Class Postage

USPS First Class packages are now called Ground Advantage.

Did you have your own shipping policy that you named 'First Class'?  And now shows up as GA when you print the label?

1st Class Postage

You cannot send packages by First Class mail. That service is now called Ground Advantage.

I believe First Class can only be used for postcards and envelopes that are flat, bendable, rectangular, and uniform thickness less than 1/4 inch.

What dimensions and weight are you entering for your first class items?

1st Class Postage

It's important to understand the physical qualifications of any service before you select it @jjkooken including weight, dimension and other restrictions. The First Class services offered are not traditional package services and they are untracked, which is probably one of the reasons they are not available through eBay labels. Many sellers rely on those services so eBay allows sellers to offer those services on their listings.

That Tupperware item does not physically qualify for First Class Letter or Large Envelope (Flat) so even if you took it to the post office to buy postage, it would be rejected as First Class and instead you'd have to buy a Ground Advantage package service label.

  • USPS First Class Letter (untracked): max weight 3.5 oz / dim 11.5x6x0.25 (if not flexible, it will be subject to a non-machinable surcharge)
  • USPS First Class Large Envelope/Flat (untracked): max weight 13oz / dim 15x12x0.75 (must be flexible & of uniform thickness)

1st Class Postage

It's up to the seller to know what class of shipping they need to use.

You never have been able to buy a label for a First Class letter, only First Class package, which no longer exist.

Like when they offered Retail ground, you could offer it, but you had to buy your label at the PO counter.

Have a great day.
