ebay Standard Envelope

Hey fellow ebay sellers, will we be able to use the "ebay Standard Envelope" to ship other things like Event Ticket Stubs, Sports Patches, Pins, Photographs or Postcards and stuff like that.  Stuff that is just an ounce or so and are inexpensive.   If they will not allow this I will be increasing my minimum shipping charge from $3.50 to $4.00.

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

Hi,

Trying to get a sense of what types of envelopes can be used by sellers who have used this option and haven't had any issues.. Could someone post, what they've used with success. Thanks

@hero43collectables

Rather than taking someone's opinion on the matter why not go to the source where it tells you what you can use?

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

I have had no issue with the tracking when using Pirateship being posted by PS on the eBay item shipped. I just select 'eBay' when I begin and PS finds the item. Once postage is paid, the tracking posts to the item on eBay. No scans of course until the PO actually does that.

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

Thanks. I've seen this but my concern is being able to use something that provides a little protection, like a photo mailer.  Does that fall under "Not too rigid", I just don't the item returned back to me or my buyer getting a postage due notice..

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

I really don't see how this would work without damaging the card.. Since top loaders would make the envelope rigid and not using a top loader would more then likely damage the card...How are sellers making this work?

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

Couple of comments here. 1- in the message ebay sent out about it it mentioned what mailers could be used the have and how cards can be mailed without causing a problem. If you run into a problem with the PO and you followed what said to do ,I would bring it up to ebay.  2.- not sure how we are to be charged for these as I have purchased 4 labels so far but no charges are showing up as yet on my account. The tracking did say accepted at local PO sort facility though. Not sure how it shows up after that. Since I had been mailing a lot of cheap under 4.00 cards by PWE, I will keep using this service as it is easier to use than buying stamps.

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

Thanks. Appreciate the reply.. One question did you use PWE to mail the ones where you used this service?

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

For those of us who are clueless:

PWE = Plain White Envelope.

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

Yes, I have been using PWE so far and have been doing so for most orders were the cards are worth less than 4.00. I did order some of the mailers ebay suggested and had available in the shipping supply store.

I also checked the first one I sent this way and it was scanned in somehow at the origin PO sort center, the destination sort center, when it went out of delivery and when delivered. So it is trackable somehow, just does not have a regular bar code.

Re: ebay Standard Envelope

Also. in using PWE over the last 2 years, I have only had 2 or 3 out of hundreds of orders arrive damaged, have had more of an issue with not received. I put the card holder in the invoice folded up and tape shut, gives a bit of padding and keeps the holder from ripping the PWE.

@comics-scifi-collectibles

7"x9" exceeds the first class letter limits of  6-1/8" x 11-1/2" max.

If eBay recommended the 7x9 chipboard mailer, then something is amiss. This is from eBay's page:

@shipscript   I need to go digging in seller central, there was a link on a secondary page for the envelope I linked above.  We need to get this fixed since they say it's too large.

I think it was a 6x8 mailer that was recommended. But there's another thread where someone said they mailed out 10 of the 6x8 mailers, supposedly following all of ebay's rules, and had 8 returned with postage due.
