Our USPS Carriers for the most part do a great job picking up our packages in the rain, heat, cold.. and get them off and carry them away, One step is being missed, scanning my packages. Seems some about 2% of our packages are not getting scanned until they get to state and sometimes only at time of delivery.. To my wonderful surprise eBay thinks I live in Guam, Portland and may other locations other then my shipping address in NC.. No matter we still take the hit for late packages.. And of course talking to customer service at eBay is a bust.. Anyone else having this issue?. It seems talking to the postmaster and carriers, have little to no effect.. No matter what it has taken me from a 8 year in a row top rated to above standard.. another way for eBay to get more money.

I dropped four packages off at my PO last Wednesday and watched her scan them. I got a receipt even with the 4 tracking numbers. Two showed up on the ebay listings when I checked. 2 NEVER showed up. As of today, they still show as only a label having been paid for. Today, I dropped off 3 packages, got my receipt. She scanned and they didn't show up for an hour or so later, but at least they are there now. The other two from last Wednesday? I have no idea what to do. One was one of two packages going to the same buyer. She contacted me when she received the one, sent a picture of it arranged alongside her other collectibles and said how much she loved it. Her other package, she made no mention of and tracking still shows it has not been accepted even though I have the receipt for it. I am fretting over this, not knowing if a package will get tracked.... Has anyone had any luck getting a human being on the phone at USPS?

My local PO is great about scanning my packages, but the N. Houston hub, is iffy, and sometimes my packages sit there for 3-4 days and get automatic comptuer generated scans that say "in transit on the way to xxxx" then a couple days later it actually leaves houston....taking 3-5 more days to get to where it's going. Right now I have several first class packages taking 7-10 days to be delivered. Is this happening to anyone else? I have not changed anything about how I print and affix my labels. Problem seems to have started Jan 2.
I do "free shipping" so at least I can't get dinged for the PO's slowness, but I'm sure buyers are still quite annoyed...hopefully I don't get a negative over this mess.

My local PO will not scan anything that goes into the prepaid cart. Anything. Ever. For that reason I always take my packages to a different place.

Oh, I understand your frustration, there! I'm in the process of having to send a new item, at my expense, to replace an item that was shipped on December 22. Tracking still shows that the label was printed but that the Post Office is waiting for acceptance. Luckily, he is one of my regular customers and never filed a dispute. (It was mailed from a satellite PO location in my hometown, not my normal PO.)
I have filed one case before and they did it at my local Post Office. (The Canadian postal service lost that one.) However, I live in a small town and my Post Office has wonderful customer service. I just took the tracking number in and they filed the case. I had already replaced the item for the customer. It took a while to get the refund but I did get it. I was extremely grateful to not have to call USPS!
Have you asked your PO to see if they'll file the claim for you?
I wish you the best of luck! Taking the monetary hits when a postal service drops the ball seems unfair, when you've held up your end of the bargain and provide tracking that shows that it was lost thousands of miles away. It hits a seller right where it hurts.

I, too am having problems with my post office not scanning packages on time. I'm also having problems with my post office not delivering mail or picking up packages. This started the week of Christmas. When it happened 3 times on the Tuesday of each week for 3 weeks, I asked my postman what was going on. He said that his route is handled by a substitute on Tuesdays and if they aren't done delivering mail by 6:00 pm, they are suppose to stop delivering for the day. Even though I got dinged by eBay, I chalked it up to a busy holiday season for the post office.
Even when I take the packages in the morning to the post office and stand in line for 30 minutes (the package receiving box is broken and they didn't have a cart for labeled packages to be dropped off), they are not scanning every package on that day.
Then this past week, they didn't deliver or pick up mail on Thursday, the 18th. So, if they don't get picked up on time and/or take a day or two to scan the package, it is really hurting. I sent a complaint in writing (email) to the Charlotte, NC post office this past Friday. Probably won't get a response.
I've gotten 3 dings within this past month. I just don't know what to do.

Same here - whenever a buyer claims non-delivery , we check the tracking & a lot of the time it stops dead part way between our PO & the buyer's PO .

I am a buyer in College Station, TX. As I understand it, all of our mail passes through North Houston, even letters from one College Station address to another. I have a few packages in transit to me that have shown no tracking updates for several days. Letter delivery is even slower than ever. I had to ask a credit card company to void a card that was mailed to me but not received after two weeks. They mailed a replacement, then I received the original letter 17 days after mailing. The local post office told my friend that they are "still catching up after the Christmas rush". Ha! Their service was better during the holidays than now. I think they allowed everyone to go on vacation at once.

After a lot of phone calls, Emails and just good old person to person talks with the Post Office, we THINK we have our problem solved for at least the time being, It is nice to see the words, PICKED UP on your first scan.. Talk to your carriers, Postmaster, Clerks, send emails to the postmaster general and keep on it, Make sure our postal carriers, do that job, they will have to work out the extra time on there routes with managment .. Since that has been the biggest complaint on why the carriers are not scanning.. But for now, we are fixed... A subway gift card, and telling them thank you seem to make our carriers a little more happy.. 🙂

Had the same situation except we had sent a check paying a bill, company marked us as being late and doling a late fee because the PO took 2 weeks to get a letter to them. I hate to jinx things but it seems like mails moving SLIGHTLY faster now, though still slower than it was in December...

ok I have a good one I called because I am on my 14 mail carrier in 11 years and I am fedup getting dinged for the post office not doing their job. Can someone tell me in what right mind does EBAY have to charge us for something out of our control ? I am thinking this is going to be a legal issue since we are not paid or employed by the USPS. So I called the post master and he said that they are not suppose to scan packages left in the mail box because they are only suppose to be picking up mail I think these people have all lost their minds. What in sam's world is a package that fits in the mail box it is MAIL. The scan sheet is set up wrong it should have it so after you do all your shipping labels it adds them together for you and that way you get them all together NOT BULK that is crazy and lazy way to do things. I am paying out the nose for my anchor store and still not getting the service I deserve it is crazy still getting lied to when their is a problem and why do we need to fix things when they are not broken stop stop stop stop. I do sale on other pages and they are easier and less demanding than EBAY and I am slowly making more with them than EBAY that is shame this is not amazon and if it was I wouldn't buy or sale from it.

I got lucky I guess. Both packages showed up eventually in the tracking system, but 8 and 9 days later. Looks like they were in the Detroit sorting facility for most of that time. The 2nd package begins its tracking in the town it was delivered in. Strange. I get receipts for all packages taken in now. I'm in a small town too and I know I'm covered for refunds if something I ship is not delivered. Just bugs me that I can watch my clerk scan a package and then it never shows in the tracking system or after more than a week!

Glad to see I am not the only one. I live northwest of Houston and just saw that in Jan, I received 5 dings for late shipping, when every time, I dropped it off at the Post Office or had it picked up one day after payment received. The packages were not scanned the same day they were dropped off.
I am going to start standing in line and request that the package be scanned while I am there. I don't know what else to do.
