PayPal just notified me about a case opened on a computer I sold over a month ago, stating that the buyer opened the case asking their financial institution to reverse the transaction. I've had one of these opened a few weeks ago and it was closed because I was protected by seller protection. This time, I am not protected because:
I checked the Fedex tracking and sure enough, the package was delivered and signed, but in another town near where the package was supposed to be delivered. Is there any way to reprint the FedEx label I used over a month ago? I can't see where that option is. I want to confirm the label had the correct shipping address on it, I mean why wouldn't it? I never changed the address manually. Is this an issue with FedEx? If so, I really need to see an image of that exact label as it was printed. Anyone know how to do this?

on the left side of your selling page is 'Shipping Labels'. Click on it.
Labels go back 90 days.
see attached ss

How could that happen? The customer fills in the address.

Ohhh... This is ugly. It looks like a redirect scam that has been described here in the past, where the recipient (or someone other than the seller, anyway) orders FedEx to redirect the shipment while it's en route. Later on, the buyer files an Item Not Received dispute because the shipment was not delivered to the City and ZIP provided with the payment. That seems to be what happened here.
Open up your tracking number history on the FedEx site. Expand it for full details, and take a look at the entries occurring on February 27th. It arrives in Niles, IL on its way to final delivery in Wilmette (I assume that was its original destination; Niles is west of there), but at 5:40 a.m. that day, the record shows an entry for "Alternate delivery requested," and from there it heads out on a new path toward Peotone, where it is eventually delivered three days later.
From what I recall, eBay had said there was a known problem where someone had obtained their (eBay's) FedEx account credentials, and was redirecting high-value items to other destinations, but to begin with, I would suggest starting with a call to FedEx, to find out exactly who redirected the shipment, and any other details you can learn.

It could be that Fed-Ex delivered the package to the wrong address. This happen to me with UPS. I personally went the UPS center with the tracking # and had them do a GPS seach. Sure enough, it was delivered to the wrong address. Same street but wrong house. You may want to Fed-Ex to do a GPS seach.

Wow, thank you for the details and for taking a more close look at the tracking notes. I see where the package was redirected. I will start by calling FedEx tomorrow and go from there. I'll post the outcome once I know more. Thanks again.

Not to be a 'Debbie Downer,' however, if you used eBay's FedEx account, FedEx will not assist because it is eBay's account 😞 Hopefully, the FedEx account used is yours.

So yesterday I called FedEx, then eBay, then PayPal. Long story short, PayPal recognized the scam immediately and said they will make it right. They already refunded me the $20 chargeback fee and asked for documentation regarding the sale, which I provided. Feeling optimistic after speaking with PayPal yesterday. I will update here once I know more.

Sorry but I wouldn't hold out for PayPal to correct this. At least they picked up the scam and refunded the chargeback but they protect scammers more than sellers. If your lucky you'll get your money back but don't expect it. PROVE ME WRONG but their customer service reps are inept.

Yes, you are probably right. Here's the latest message from PayPal, I will post back here with the final outcome.
The chargeback dispute process may take up to 75 calendar days. In a dispute over a chargeback, the final decision is ultimately made by the credit card company. PayPal cannot control the outcome.

Do you know if adding DO NOT REDIRECT THIS PACKAGE! RETURN TO SENDER ONLY! RETURN POSTAGE GUARANTEED! on the shipping label would be honored by FedEx or USPS?

Unfortunately the machines that route packages can't read. So unless it got kicked out for manual processing and that person saw the message it would have no effect.

Do you think that a package has to be manually processed to change the shipping address as would be required for a redirect? Maybe then it would be noticed that the sender does not want any redirects.

Update: PayPal sent one of their goons after me over the weekend, threatening to send a collection agency after me for the negative balance in my account since they withdrew the $1169 purchase price of the item. I was a bit shocked, but not surprised due to PayPal's reputation.
In other news, I opened a lost package claim with FedEx, so perhaps I will have better news to share soon.
