Promoted Ad Rates %

Why is the suggested Promotion Ad rate % constantly changing on my listing that I have have promoted? I shouldn't have to go back and keep checking all my items to see what has changed. And I'm not just talking about a .01% or 2, I'm talking in some cases 3-6%.

When you promote a listing, what you are essentially doing is bidding against other sellers for a limited number spots on the first page of search results, or for scarce spots in other places. When your listing is promoted in a search your listing appears higher than it otherwise would, and every promoted listing that appears after yours drops down another spot in the ranking, and that means that someone's listing is bumped to page two. To get back to page one, that seller has to promote at a rate higher than the other promoted listings above that.

You can put a cap on your ad rate if you're not willing to go above a certain %, or you can use a flat rate instead of suggested rates. Do what works best for you @jet0653.
