eBay Developer Community Added To The Regular Community?

sheila@ebay  - it appears eBay's developer community, which used to be a separate forum on its own site, has been merged into the regular community here as Developer Groups.

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Developer-Groups/ct-p/developergroup

It might be helpful to post an announcement somewhere or give guidance to the many helpful posters here to avoid confusion, like in this thread here where regular posters may not know what "premium support hours" are because that's something very specific to the eBay dev program:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/eBay-APIs-Talk-to-your-fellow/How-do-I-issue-a-refund-for-unused-premi...

Also curious if the eBay team that used to monitor and assist in the Dev community have been moved over here to continue offering assistance for these kinds of dev program specific questions or if those boards are now only being handled by the regular community team here?

eBay Developer Community Added To The Regular Community?

The Dev community was moved (not moved, simply started over again) on the first of February.

Apparently, the developer-posters on that old platform were advised of the move, but I really haven't seen anyone answering over here on the new forums.

I saw one developer_support staff post at the beginning, but nothing since then. In the ensuing silence, I fear they may have been axed by eBay's staffing cuts last week.

And you are correct that seasoned posters on this platform may not be aware of the difference when a Dev post appears in the community home page feed. Most will have API in the forum name, but some responders are quick to jump without examining the forum label.

Sheila said she would try to figure out how to prevent Dev posts from appearing in that feed.

nicole@ebayis this still on the agenda? There is one post filling up with a technical problem on the Sandbox, but no staff member is responding. Could you see if there is such a person?

Well, it appears that developer_support posted today, so at least we still have Dev staff on that forum.  However, they took only a softball question...

This is the first thing I thought when I saw it had "moved".

It's also extremely unfortunate that all the posts are now gone. There was a huge wealth of information found on the developers site! Especially since "official" support is nearly non-existent.

I don't know what they're thinking. It's not like the developer community could have cost much to run. Even if removing the staff, why on earth get rid of the old forum?

@zamo-zuan

I heard that it had gotten too glitchy with technical issues, but it may have been a cost-cutting measure. However, losing that wealth of developer knowledge is truly sad. One would hope they somehow archived it, but I doubt they could restring it into something that could be used here.

The irony of a technical forum having technical issues, haha.

If anything, I would have appreciated if they kept it as read-only.

Hi @shipscript yes that is still on the agenda and I will check in with that team to make sure someone provides a response!

This is pretty insane that eBay simply deleted the whole archive of previous developer questions and answers. That was a knowledge of more than a decade. Does eBay plan to restore it for read only access?

@daviga53 don't worry, I'm sure eBay thinks their new AI chat bot for developers is an adequate replacement for that more than a decade worth of knowledge they deleted. ðŸ™„

Unfortunately, I have seen nothing either official or unofficial to make me think they have any plans to actually restore the previous archive.
