What is that "Knowledge Base" section I stumbled into?

It's like I somehow entered a parallel universe. It has the same categories like selling, buying, shipping, etc. but instead of a REPLY button it has an ANSWER or COMMENT button. I thought it odd that there were few replies to a thread I posted in until I realized something is a little odd here. What's the point of two separate but seemingly the same, forums?

The reason that some of the areas may seem the same, but aren't is that some are in the member to member mentor area.  This is an area where you can receive "official" advice from chosen eBay designated sellers who have applied to be Mentors and have been chosen for their knowledge and experience.  Conceivably, these would be better or more correct answers as they can only be answered by Mentors and not the eBay general public.

This just causes confusion and I thought Ebay tries to avoid confusing members. Having basically two forums about selling, buying, shipping, yet dropping the forums about feedback for example we had years ago. Not very efficient.

There's only one member-to-member board. It's labeled as "Member to Member Support." Anyone can reply to posts on all the other boards (unless the thread is locked).

We're aware community navigation is confusing and we'll be working on improving that very soon.

Thanks, @atikovi

Hey... here's a chance for you to tally a post!

I now understand the Member to Member board... but answer me this. If I wanted to Start a Discussion right here on this very page we're reading (with all these questions about everything!), which 'Board' (from the drop-down menu) do I choose to post to? Qualifier: I'd want to allow members to be able to 'Reply', if they could help me.

Do I simply choose the Board that closest addresses my topic... then it appears right here on this very page we're reading?

Whatever board you start a topic in is where your topic will appear.

You should choose the board that most closely fits your topic. If your topic is a selling question, post on the Selling board; if your topic concerns how to compute shipping (or whatever) or how to handle a return, post on the Shipping & Return board, etc.

Your thread will not show up on this page. This thread has been started by someone else and only other members' posts/replies show up on this page. You should go to whichever board you think best applies to your topic and click on the blue "Start a discussion" button. You can create a thread title and then compose your post. Your thread will be on its own page.

Here's one Community Guideline about posting topics that I want to make sure you're aware of:

"6. Avoid duplicate, repetitive or disruptive threads and posts.  Members should only post one thread per topic on the most relevant board for the issue or question.  Topics or posts that are duplicative or disruptive may be removed without notice."

So, pick your board and post on only one board. The moderators will delete any threads that are duplicated across the community.

If the moderators think your topic is more suitable for a different board, they will remove it, so make sure you can track it in some fashion. If you click on your own community profile, it will show you all the threads you've started and all the comments you've posted, along with a whole bunch of other information. Check out that area when you get time.

@mtgraves7984  Besides the other great answers you received this video might help explain how the boards work too>>

@mtgraves7984   Use the tabs across the top of the page, select a board topic closest to your subject.  Discussions are the format you referenced with the "Reply" button ... the flow is chronological.  If you were actually trying to explain making a suggestion for  like a right click on your mouse so those tabs appear while you are on a thread then great idea ... post the idea on the Weekly Chat, they will pass it on to the appropriate department for consideration ...

I should have added that screens will look different depending on whether you're using the desktop version of eBay or the mobile app(s).
