The Community Bell / Notifications Is extra flaky today.

The community bell is frequently incorrect as it does not capture all the posts for threads I am following.  It often omits posts for some reason.  I've even seen times where I have a few to look at.  I click into one of the notifications and then come back to the list to do the next one, only to find out is it gone.

 

Today, I had zero notifications to the bell from 10:40AM to 1:40PM.  IDK if they are right yet as I've only gotten notifications for the last 10 minutes or so of the Weekly Chat.

The Community Bell / Notifications Is extra flaky today.

Not just the community bell, but the bell on the seller hub listing pages as well.  I shipped an item and all day long it has been telling me to ship it.  I X it out and it comes back in seconds.  Annoying.

The bell is down again.  Since about 4:50PM  PST.  It is now getting close to 11PM.

What I've found is if I log out of Ebay all together.  Then log back in.  Wait about 5 minutes, I can then get in the community.

 

I just don't know why ebay is putting up with all this from Khoros.  Near 7 months of this mess.  One thing gets fixed and another problem pops up.  Then a couple go back to the beginning with no relief in site.  Somewhere the line needs to get drawn and the proper expertise put on the issue so it is resolved.

I've had the feeling from the beginning that this was the lowest bid option.  It's not that difficult to set up a forum, particularly if one gets rid of all the little badges and other nonsense.

Thanks @mam98031. Last I heard Khoros is making progress on notification issues. Is the bell working for you today?


With all respect, you told us that a couple months ago too, but here we are.

 

As for the bell.  It is back to it's normal hit and miss.  For the last several months I have never found it to be completely accurate.  It has always missed informing me of some thread postings and that remains true today.  But it is better than it was last night.

At about 8:45AM PST today the community bell stopped working for me again.  As of this moment it still isn't working.

 

Also last night I had a horrible time with flooding errors.  No reason for it as I had no cut and past part to my post, link or anything.  It just wasn't going to let me post.

@mam98031 I want to start by saying I'm as frustrated as you are with the Khoros issues. We're working with Khoros to get this and other issues resolved. I wish it was quicker 😞

 

What would be most helpful for me is if you can provide a link to a post you should have been notified for but haven't. This'll help Khoros diagnose why the notification feature didn't pick up on it and hopefully get a fix in place. Thanks!

@mam98031 the post flooding and HTML errors have been driving me bananas! The HTML error is weird because we allow simple HTML is posts, but it's still being blocked. The system should also remove any HTML it doesn't like, but that isn't working either. It's been frustrating. 

 

You mentioned you get the HTML error even when you don't do a copy/paste. Do you just type up a post like normal and get the error? Are you using the quote feature? Thanks for your help with this!

The posting I was trying to do the other night had nothing by the quote from the poster I was responding to and what I typed in response.  Dang was that one frustrating.  I don't however remember what thread it was on, but if I run across it I will give you a link.

 

I have noticed flooding errors if you simply tag someone from time to time.  It isn't consistent.  

 

I do know that I'm voicing my dismay at how much time all this is taking and why Khoros is unable to move faster than they are.  Quite honestly it doesn't make sense to me unless there is not enough qualified staff working on this on the Khoros side.

 

My comments are never directed to you or your abilities to resolve this issues.  Unless I misunderstand something it is my understanding that Khoros is responsible for managing and fixing these problems.
