a big thank you to all that are working towards making this community a more welcoming place. I’ve seen a really increase in friendliness – not nearly so many condescending remarks, unwelcoming, attitudes, etc. I don’t know what the reason is – maybe some of my pleas, maybe action by the moderators.  Doesn’t really matter – I like it!

   I noticed that a moderator (I suppose) removed an especially foul remark by OP on another post. I saw it and then went back later and it was gone.

  I believe that's generally a good thing. People later were trying to help the person probably not being aware of the foul nature of this person. I kind of wish they would have left the remark though so people might not be too quick to help such a foul person. Just my take on 1 instance.

   All in all I agree things "simmering down lately" is good. It's nice when people can express their views without getting overly personal or intentionally offensive...................................

The only posts of mine that I can no longer find were the ones where I referred to myself as an “unofficial moderator.”  Please keep things honest and respectful.  Thanks.  or, maybe you are confused. You might have me confused with someone else, who has several posts that I can’t find. He’s now on vacation, so can’t chime in. But, his heart was in the right place. He was really trying to defend me – he’s seen how rough things can get.

   Oh no. I meant the OP on another post that was "moderated" (I suppose) not you.

  I was just trying (clumsily it seems) to show that the moderators are indeed cleaning up some offensive replies/posts.

  No offense was meant towards you. A totally different OP that replied in a most foul manner that was gone a few hours later.

   Sorry again for the confusing reply.................

All good - my misunderstanding.  Admittedly, I’m a little sensitive.  Last week, I had someone go off on me about something, only to be reminded by another community member that she had the wrong guy.

On the whole, I think that this forum is mostly a kind and gentle place. Assume what you wish about me.

Given the low regard many Ebayers hold Ebay in, it is not surprising that those of us who recall Ebay policy without questioning it do not include more negativity in our posts and receive more negativity as a result of our posts.

Historically, this forum has been a lot worse than it is today.

Well, I won’t turn down a compliment.  I’m even okay with criticism 🙂  Completely fair to say “too far” or “okay, Powell, we get it.”  We can agree or disagree - all good, IMO.

That’s great to hear! 😊 It really makes a difference when the community feels more positive and supportive. Credit definitely goes to both the moderators and the members who take the time to help and encourage others. Let’s keep this welcoming spirit going!
