Reply vs Quick Reply: Both inadequate.

If I click on Reply, i'm taken to a whole new page where I cannot refer to the post that I'm replying to.   That is not a good feature.  That is a very bad feature.  Who thought of that?  (Lithium strikes again)

With Reply I can Tag names of people and, yes I, can "Quote" which pastes the entire message I'm replying to (not always needed). And I can use formatting, and run a spell check (LOL).

If I click on Quick Reply, I can refer to the post I'm replying to.

That's a good feature. ANY good discussion platform should allow the person who's commenting to refer to the post he's repying to.    Of course

But in Quick Reply I cannot Tag people and I cannot use formatting nor the antiquated spell check.

Who exactly thinks of these things?
It's absurd.

Correction regarding Tagging names.
Tagging actually works BETTER in Quick Reply because you can just type @ and the username and be done with it, rather than have the intrusive and flawed Lithium tagging pop up interfere with the tagging.

That's not the topic though. The main idea is that REPLY doesn't allow the commenter to refer to the thing that he's replying to. That's just not right. Major flaw.

Correction: the OP appears below in Reply.

I think it would make more sense for the OP to appear above as we Reply... as time in this forum context runs backward from top to bottom.

Within a post, the new comments are at the bottom, and get older as we go up the page.

In this case, while we are Replying, something old is below something new.    A sudden reversal of convention that is distracting.

There's also a whole page of mostly empty space when we click Reply.  We should see what we're replying to.

@stoneledge, thanks for the feedback. I don't like the Quick Reply function either, and prefer full reply. A lot of community members, including me, only use the full reply,  much more feature availability.

The reply and quick reply features are standard to the Lithium platform, not customizations.
