Pasted Links in Posts Acquiring Trailing Characters

Links pasted in the community forum editor recently are often picking up a trailing 2 byte sequence:

https://www.ebay.com/b/eBay-Coupons/bn_7109765183%C2%A0

The links display normally, which makes it difficult to check without going to preview where still difficult to catch the tiny extended underline (and impossible to check in quick edit mode without first posting then re-editing).

The resulting links are broken and result in 404 errors. The A0h is an ASCII non-breaking space, what the C2h is doing there I don't know.

https://www.ebay.com/b/eBay-Coupons/bn_7109765183   <--pasted that hit spacebar twice to type this and 99% sure it's going to be mangled. Yep, it acquired 2 C2hA0h pairs and is now an invalid link.

Only ways I've figured to avoid it is to paste link, hit enter, add some spaces to the new line, and backspace and continue on, which most aren't going to do and is a PITA to remember and do, or to use the "insert/edit link function, which is also a PITA when I'm 3 scrolls down in a post and that icon is up at the top of the page.

This may have come up before, but seems to be back.  alan@ebay

Hi @berserkerplanetalan@ebay pointed me to this post.

This was an interesting one, and I tested multiple links and cutting and pasting into our testing environment. Sometimes cutting and pasting picks up extra characters when pasted into the post Body window as it's a Rich Text environment.

In this case as you've pointed out, links seem to pick up spacing when pasted, and hitting the spacebar twice, as you're probably looking to include the link in a sentence instead of a line of its own. The two spaces add a %C2%AO to the link, as you said Unicode for a non-breaking space which causes an issue when it's clicked.

This hasn't been reported previously, so we'll have to do some research and prob pass it on to Lithium to look into.

Obviously, there are workarounds, but like you said, it's a hassle. Thanks for passing it on!

It would appear that the problem has been fixed.

In the Lithium Community, other Lithium customers had reported similar, but intermittent issues, based on how the user cuts and pastes links.

I'll keep an eye out, and if you have any more issues, please feel free to tag me.
