Community question

While trying to volunteer information to a post, and clicking on their listings to help them...

Does looking at their listings mess up search results on eBay or other search engines for the volunteers?

Thanks

Not a main concern, just curious.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

I will take a shot at this. This is mostly speculation based on personal observation rather than any real knowledge of how things are supposed to work.

I do a lot of searches, and in order to keep track of where I leave off, I click on a lot of different items that I am not necessarily interested in. Mostly I sort by "newly listed" or "lowest first", which should not be affected at all by search history. "Best match" might be affected by views, but I think that would be a second or third order effect, if there is any effect at all; as I understand it, "best match" seems to be affected primarily by overall site-wide sales, statistically speaking, not individual views. But I really don't know for sure.

So I don't think my item views have affected my searches at all.

My feeds and recommended items, on the other had, are pretty much useless.
