wrong address or scam?

A person bought a book I was selling. They messaged me saying that they wanted it sent to a different address. Before buying the postage, I edited the address according to the message. I even confirmed it was correct on the shipping label when I printed it. I now received an email from the person claiming that the item was delivered to the wrong, original address. I checked the messages, the copy of the shipping label, and the tracking information, which all confirmed it was sent and delivered to the correct address. Is it possible for the package to go to the wrong address despite all the evidence, or am I being scammed?

wrong address or scam?

You are being scammed.  First off you should only ship to the address of record on eBay or Paypal.  Second, how could the shipping service you used  ship an item to an address that is not on the label.  They would not know the buyer's address of record.  The buyer will probably open an item not received dispute, and you will have to refund because you did not ship to the address of record.

Was the person that sent the message about changing the address your buyer, check the Ebay ID's.

Scammers will send a message to sellers claiming to be the buyer asking to change the address.

Seller doesn't know they've been scammed until the real buyer want to know where there item is.

To be covered, you never want to change the shipping address.

Have a great day.

eBay doesn't offer any protections when you change the ship-to location. They tell you to cancel due to problem with buyer's address and have the buyer re-purchase using their correct address at checkout.

At my discretion I may change an address for a buyer- but only if the value is low enough to take the risk that I may have to refund if they decide to file an INR.

Sinse seller are not supposed to edit or change the address button and if they do their seller protection is thrown out the window it would also seam to reason the option to edit the address should be removed from the shipping and labels page.

That way all sellers would have to cancel the purchase and have the buyer update their address before purchasing a 2nd time. Just having the edit option leaves new or in experienced sellers open to problems they may not even be aware of.
