wondering if anyone has figured out how to get visibility on Ebay.

I have over 200 items listed, but rarely do they get looked at.. with the outreach of Ebay, they should at least be getting views.  Cannot afford to do a store yet, and at this rate, never will.  I offer some free shipping.  I keep relisting and adding new listings.  Ebay will only let me cancel an "order" when someone doesn't pay and out of the little I've sold, I have had a couple of those lately.  I tried to ask a representative when I called on another issue, and the guy just said I have to do my own promoting.  I have added my seller ID to my shop advertising.  But Ebay is supposed to be advertising.. all I ever hear in this part of Iowa is about Ebay motors which sounds like Ebay owns everything in it...  I have a wide variety of items, and I check if things are selling before I list anything...  what do you think??

Re: wondering if anyone has figured out how to get visibility on Ebay.

Have you done the research on all of your items to understand the sell thru rate, how much to sell for, which specific ones are selling well and have a good sell thru rate etc... Your titles need some help but it seems like a lot of what you are selling is going to be slow movers. If you list items with low sell thru rates and at high prices, then expect to wait a long time for them to sell. I don't know how well versed you are in vintage/antiques but if you don't know much about them then I would start educating yourself. Also can you send us a screen shot of you traffic tab as it would give a better idea of how bad you traffic is, if it is.

I might be beating a dead horse at this point... I didn't read through all six pages LOL... but auctions with HIGH starting bids?  I would do Buy It Now listings that keep renewing after 30 days. Use calculated shipping as well.

Set most of your items at $24.99 and you MIGHT get rid of some of it. I made an offer on Superman but it got declined pretty quickly!

There is also another no research approach that can work. I use this with mixed lots of wargaming miniatures that I frequently buy. As I find it is not worth my time to try to figure out what every last tank and transport is.

Put it up for $100 with calculated shipping. Put directly in the listing that people should watch the item for price drops.  Drop the price 10 percent every 2 weeks.  Eventually you will either find the market price or discover no one wants your item.

10 percent drops are important because those are the ones that trigger notifications to watchers.

I was listing cheaper... but never ever got a second bid on anything.. a DAV tag got another bid recently but otherwise, probably just too much to choose from on here.  I have to confer with my husband on pricing also...  I have a shop so don't need to take a loss on things,  just was trying to back up my income some after all this CoVid stuff and some major health issues... thanks for the feedback..

Re: wondering if anyone has figured out how to get visibility on Ebay.

short of living next door and hand delivering the package, it will weigh between 1 and two pounds at the very least..  shipping will be at least $9 and possibly more depending on where it is coming from and going to...  which takes you to zero... and under as time, packing materials, gas, etc is still not in the equation..  just saying.  my initial cost of merchandise is at least $10 in the first place.  When I listed it, I compared other listings and went in the middle price wise at the time..  of course I've relisted a few times... would just pull it.. but doesn't owe me much for already being on, and after I've done the work, might still happen with an offer...

Re: wondering if anyone has figured out how to get visibility on Ebay.

They are referring to the item that "might be /might not be" gold.

It's like describing a fake purse as "possibly" Louis Vuitton. Either it is or it isn't. If we are not sure, we can underdescribe  (golden/ gold-plated) and let the customer get the benefit of our ignorance or research to determine what it is, which costs time and money.

I have minimums on most of the offer settings..  I never saw the offer, so with free shipping, your offer probably was automatically declined..

Re: wondering if anyone has figured out how to get visibility on Ebay.

A single bid has always been possible, but it’s very common nowadays.

That’s why we warn people to list at a price they’re willing to take. The partner to that, though, is it can’t be a wishful price.

About 18 months ago, I thought I could legit get $1800 for a Gunne Sax dress. They were listing at that price at auction but frequently going higher. I received an instant bid, they won, and didn’t pay.

So I relisted it for $250. Many of those had super crazy bidding wars. Mine closed with one bid at $250.

There are so many factors to the placement algorithms we don’t know. In my category I also compete with sellers who are heavily on social media and multiple selling platforms.

Titles? Sorry, I can’t remember. The one with “bank” twice was listed up above as an example of something else. The tin without “tin” was near the top of your listings when I clicked “view listings” and the one with “rare” was about 3/4 down the page.

Titles are SO DARN IMPORTANT. Never waste that real estate.

Their pages are allowed to have HTML.  You are not allowed to post HTML on the boards.  Totally different things.

What is your point in posting your traffic page?

Usually that doesn’t mean anything and it looks the same when you post as when you typed. I just ignore it and post.

It does mean something Attic.  It means that they are either posting HTML or a character string which the boards are interpreting as HTML.   Typically it's special characters & usually I have to remove or change the special characters for eBay to not interpret it as HTML.

Right - or formatting that's not visible in the output which is why I often don't see any difference between the text I c/p and the text where the HTML has been 'removed.'

I'd like to see the OP succeed in expanding their B&M shop with an online opportunity, but IMHO it'll take going back to square one and actually learning how to sell online, including basics of computing, photography, merchandising, etc. - it's not just like offline selling.
