Between the fee's and lack of sales or views for that matter I am losing confidence at an alarming rate in eBay.
Even worse if possible is the USPS. I have TWO items I have purchased get lost in shipping--not delayed but lost in the last 7 days.
As a seller I have no confidence in anything I sell getting to the buyer. I understand the delays in transit time but not packages that don't even make it out of their zip code.

Ebay really needs to protect sellers who do everything correctly from negative feed back due to Post Office delays. I INR cases are just piling up on my end and I am just waiting for the negatives to start flowing in.

and then there is this
sellers should be aware of the fees and if their item prices can't handle them, they shouldn't be listing those items.
I remember when eBay was fun--you could sell almost anything and most people were happy
why is it when a huge corporation steps in everything s**ks for everyone but them?

If a seller refunds......ebay refunds fees, except for the 30c......which is exactly what paypal did.........before they started not refunding anything........they have a cost of doing business, no matter what the outcome is....
Yep, sellers did things right........but there is always a risk, no matter how small, in anything we do.....walk across the street, drive a car.......perfectly......never leave your house and a plane drop on it...... No one can be made completely whole........

The only thing throwing a wrench into the works at this time is the USPS shipping. This week I started going the few extra dollars to ship UPS Ground on the more expensive items.
As dhbooks stated above, "this too shall pass".

I have enough confidence in the platform to continue selling here. I'm also aware that we are in an unprecedented situation, with Covid and an unsettled political and economic landscape impacting buyers, carriers and sellers alike...this is not a normal situation and I'm frankly just glad to be selling anything. In my state, more Covid restrictions just went into place....restaurants that had finally been able to provide indoor seating are now back to take out and delivery only. Many of those places are really struggling to get by. Me? A few of my packages have run into delays, but I look around at other businesses in this environment and realize if they can manage with what they are up against, I can manage the lesser challenges I face.

yep........UNTIL the invoice came thru..........and sellers realized they were paying 75c insertion fees with 1 picture on the items they DIDN'T sell......... I remember the many posts of "why didn't I make any money.".......

who has confidence in eBay right now?
I have full confidence in ebay. I know my monthly bill will be right on time. 😉

As for eBay: the timing of there mange pay has a lot of sellers upset along with the problems that are creeping in with it:
Buyers are becoming leery of eBay due to shipping times. ( and that may get worse).
The shipping troubles could get bad enough to shut down a lot of sellers who do not wish to lose there money and product. This has already been happening:
Confidence in eBay: well we are still selling and folks are purchasing.
So I would say it is still high:
Of course the scammers are still making money using eBay's name: that also says it is still high.

USPS i heard today is down 40% of work force. all sorts of probelms getting items t osellers or being lost

Good post.
I would also add that eBay is no different than Amazon, Etsy, or most other online sites when it comes to fees or delivery problems via UPS, FedEx, or USPS. The only difference is that Amazon now has some control over deliveries they make solely from their own warehouses and via their own delivery service.

I've never had confidence in Ebay or any of the other places I've sold at. These are online entities who can never be trusted, ever. I do have confidence and trust in myself. That's all that matters.
Late mail - it is what it is. Nothing I can do about it, nothing Ebay can do about it, nothing the buyer can do about it. Any losses come from the cookie jar, that's what it's there for.

this isn't late mail...this is lost mail.

maybe eBay could defend sellers who have proof ( not hard to see)
whose items are lost or stolen in the mail?
Should the buyers be the only ones who get the benefit of doubt?

Tagging on. Regarding fees and taxes and slow shipping services. It's a level playing field. We all have to deal with the same issues. Our competitors aren't gaining an advantage over us by not having to pay taxes, USPS rate increases or their stuff is getting delivered faster.
We're all in the same boat. All facing the same challenges and issues.
I might not have MORE confidence in ebay right now, but I don't have LESS. There's a huge number of things on this website that work exactly the way they are supposed to. No matter what, This is where the customers come to spend their money.
We adapt or we fade away.
Not all ebay sellers are suffering low views, poor sales, high return rates. There's millions of stories in the naked city and each one of those stories is unique.

Because you are responsible to get the item to the purchaser, you alone as the seller.
