If nothing else I got a good education from your listings. Odds of finding a EW jacket are slim, but things turn up in the strangest places. I searched active and saw only one that had the bling going which belongs to you the two you sold have the bling and all the other stuff is just mundane don't really make a statement..

The marble buyer thought it was a great idea he knew if something happened in the mail it could never be replaced in a lifetime...

Your buyer is trying to go back to here and has the money now to put the material things in place and once in place they close their eyes and back they go... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwvikYBN28E

Did you use the Global Shipping program where you ship to a US address? If so, you're okay - just be sure to get signature confirmation.
If not - then I'd say its prudent to spend some of your own money (if you can't charge the buyer for it due to an already published s/h charge in the listing) on a trackable method of shipping that includes signature confirmation.
If you cancel as OUT OF STOCK - I don't think you get your final fee refunded do you? That's super risky either way as it also causes a defect. Just protect yourself with tracking and online Sig Conf. even if it costs you $$
For future - maybe don't list your more pricey things so an international market and keep those items restricted to the domestic US market. Just because you offer worldwide shipping doesn't mean you have to offer it for every single thing.

GSP has a standard limit of $2500 including shipping/handling.

Update, and in need of advise
Shipped both the jacket to buyer at a loss of $300 to me for havinng 3 day delivery with signature and insurance to cover full cost.
Heres my dilema, almost a month later buyer has just contacted me stating they want to return as the items are too small, buyer then states the smell is unpleasent. These are close to 50 years old and will not smell new, they smell old and anyone who would buy them should of known that.
Have i any chance of fighting this? My other concern is the jackets may not even come back to me and some junk might?

@vjunkieswrote:Upon further research fedex offers restricted adult signature delivery. Meaning only adult at address with valid ID can sign. The cost for insurance shipping a whopping $450.
The value of the package is making in complicated. Need to file for a temp export license, who knows what that means in terms of any further charges on my end. If anyone has dealt with this before would love to know the ins and outs? Hindsight I need to remove international shipping with these high end listings but **bleep** did I know I get lucky with 2 big sales, just unfortunate with the shipping and lack of buyer history.
If you're having legitimate problems with exporting the jackets (as in, you need a license and this isn't easy to get), I would cancel on those grounds.
New Zealand is not a high scammer incident country. Vintage clothing is not a highly scamable item (because you need a unique buyer, which can take a long time to find someone who wants that thing and can afford to buy it).
If you ship, you need signature for certain. Can you ship them separately to get around the export requirements? (I don't live in USA, I don't know these things).
Let me put it this way... I list a $25 silver coin with $20 of silver in it, there's a good chance I'll get scammed (and when there wasn't tracking on many things because I was shipping from Canada, I did get scammed often enough to not bother listing those). My $200 token that's 100 years old and written in Hebrew... a collector will buy that, and at $200 I can afford to make sure there's tracking, even with high Canadian shipping costs. If I get scammed on something like that, a shop will give him $5 for the item. I know this because I buy and sell tokens, and we never research their value until after they've been purchased and accumulate in a jar for a few months. (with some exceptions)
So if your buyer were a scammer, they'd probably be sitting on your jackets a long while before finding a buyer. A scammer wants an iPhone, a laptop, a gaming console, or some bullion that can be sold for melt. They're not interested in vintage clothing.
Cheers, C.

If your buyer has contacted you thru the general eBay messages system, that is one thing. If the BUyer as contacted you from their personal email to yours, that's another thing. If the Buyer has contacted you by requesting a return thru eBay return system, that is yet a third thing.
If thru private email, these messages are not viewable by eBay staff, so my suggestion would be to not respond at all thru private email---total radio silence.
If thru general messages, then the messages are always visible to eBay staff. Respond to Buyer that Buyer's size concerns were addressed in the listings, since you provided the actual measurements of the two jackets, and both listings noted that the labeled sizes were not accurate when compared to actual masurements. Also point out that it is general knowledge among Buyers of vintage clothing that the clothing will have odors consistent with the age and material of the product, which is inherent to the genuineness of the item.
If the Buyer's contact is within the official framework of the eBay returns system, then you MUST reply to the Buyer within the returns messaging system. We recently learned in another thread that if you make the mistake of NOT using the returns system to respond to your Buyer, thinking that messages thru general eBay messsages will satisfy the requirement to respond to the Buyer's return request, then eBay considers that failure to respond to the Buyer and will automatically find in favor of the Buyer's return request. The content of your response should be pretty much the same as above.
Please be aware of the fact that eBay's return system is heavily skewed in favor of the Buyer, as eBay's bottom line is enhanced whenever they can foist the cost of dealing with abusive Buyers onto Sellers rather than improve their systems and processes. It used to be that odors or smells were not a valid reason for a Significantly Not As Described return; it used to be that clothing size/fit was not a valid reason for a Significantly Not As Described return. But now, if the Buyer opens an official eBay return, under the current climate, the probabilities are that the case would be decided in the Buyer's favor, and that you would end up paying for the cost of returning your jackets back to you, not to mention assuming the risk that what comes back to you might not be what you sent. Under the current climate and what we have been reading about on these boards, it's pretty much immaterial that you followed to the letter the written requirements that eBay places on Sellers---their unpublished return rules will allow the Buyer to abuse eBay's system and cost you money.

We have got to see this jacket. Sounds like a one of a kind. If they paid you should ship though. maybe give ebay a call and ask to advise. Best regards
